Today we’d like to introduce you to BreAnna Wiley.
BreAnna known as BreFit Wiley has always been an athlete with an amazing work ethic. I played AAU basketball, junior high-high school basketball, and D1 college basketball at Southern University New Orleans where I won a college championship for the 2014-2015 season. I got into fitness in the spring of 2013 after fracturing my ankle and tearing my PCL. After gaining weight due to injuries, I really gained a passion for exercising and healthy eating. After posting my transformation on social media, a lot of my followers and peers began inquiring about training and it’s been history ever since. Summer of 2015 after graduating from college, I began teaching group classes in West Memphis, Arkansas (hometown). In December 2015, I relocated to Houston, Texas because I knew I needed and wanted more in life…I started feeling like I would just let my talents go to waste. After a few weeks in Houston, I enrolled in graduate school at Arkansas State University, pursuing my Master’s of Science degree in Sports Administration (graduated December 2018). Closing out 2018, I won Fitness Instructor of the Year 2018 for the TAP awards in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Today, I am still striving for greatness. I am now a sponsored athlete, full-time entrepreneur, and trainer. I have trained and inspired over 100 clients to live a better and healthier lifestyle. I have my own apparel company offering activewear, lifestyle clothing, accessories & more. This year I will be a special guest at the Pretty Girls Sweat Festival in Atlanta Georgia.
My ultimate goal is to open my own health and wellness center and continue to inspire those near and far to take health seriously.
I have five brothers and 0 sisters.
I enjoy working out and helping others get in the best shape.
I love to travel, film workouts, and try different foods.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road.
When I started out, I didn’t have a detailed planned. I sort of just went the flow of things. I didn’t have a brand identification but that soon changed. Of course, jumping into training I had to find a financial balance. Finances can be up and down… clients come and go… it’s life. Thankfully, I’ve been consistent and things are getting better. Within 2 years of training, I was able to quit my job and become a full-time trainer and entrepreneur. I’ve struggled with finding a place to call home, which is why my goal is to open my own facility. I love working with others, but sometimes it can be draining when everyone isn’t on one accord. I feel we all have room to grow and should be allowed to grow. Every trainer is different and unique in their own way and we should be able to embrace that without conflict. I’ve been in spaces where I felt like I couldn’t be me and I couldn’t reach my full potential so I had to take a step back and reevaluate things. Very thankful for those experiences because they teach me patience and to always keep faith and embrace that those places aren’t my final destination.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is called Get Fit Wit Bre Fitness and BreFit Apparel.
My training style is very flexible. I offer online training, group training, boot camps & more. I specialize in HIIT (high-intensity interval training), weight loss, and strength training. Being a former athlete allows me to be flexible in the way I train clients. BreFit Apparel offers activewear, lifestyle clothing, accessories such as waistbands, fanny packs, hats and more.
I’m most proud of the overall growth for my brand. I’ve had clients who have been with me since day 1 (four years and counting). I’m also proud of how others genuinely support me as a black female entrepreneur. Although it’s a lot of hard work and sacrifice, it feels really good to have a business that’s constantly growing and receiving recognition. I’ve been able to teach classes at the Nike Memphis Company store, travel to Miami and host a boot camp, become a Special Guest at the 2019 Pretty Girls Sweat Fest and collaborate with other fitness professionals.
What sets my business apart from others is its versatility. Because I not only personal train, it really allows me to reach more people. I offer online and virtual training as well as travel for boot camps and events. Our boot camps are always fun. Aside from my business, being a part of other health and wellness companies and networking with like minded people allows for my brand to be seen in many different aspects.
What were you like growing up?
I was always very smart… always loved to learn and asked many questions. Growing up with all brothers made me tough… mentally and physically.
I was always a hard worker and very competitive. I would fight, play against, and race against my brothers. Whatever they did… I did.
I was an introvert and extrovert… I enjoyed being around others, but I was also sort of shy.
