Meet Brenda Canuz of Bmc Decor in Alief

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Canuz.

Brenda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Decorating and creating has always been a hobby of mine, it wasn’t until my sister’s quinceañera that decore bumped up to my passion and love. My parents, being my biggest supporters gifted me with a Cricut to kickstart my decorating business. My passion for decor inspired me to expand to others and create a business where I can share my ideas with others.

Has it been a smooth road?
Life is full of bumps on the road, for me being part of a minority group has been my biggest obstacle as well as my autoimmune disease. As hard as it gets to deal with these bumps on the road, I don’t let it get to me, instead, I make them my strengths. My decor and crafting business has been an outlet for me a way to be free and do what I feel I do best. It also allows me to inspire others who struggle like me. The obstacles allow me to be stronger and challenge me to be better.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bmc Decor story. Tell us more about the business.
When it comes to planning and choosing decor, it can become overwhelming to do it alone. So I do my best to incorporate everything my client wants so they are satisfied! I love having a one to one basis to hear my clients out and to create their ideas in reality. Most of the work is personalized decorations for any occasion. I believe my patience and the love I have for crafting come from my heart so everything else falls in its place and it becomes unique.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have so many plans for the future one of them is opening a studio where other crafters can come and do their crafts too. So it will be like a big studio where I can make workshops so anyone can come and learn to make crafty things. I am currently working on a merch line where I can attract Millennial.
