Meet Brian Edwards of Building Knowledge Everyday

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Edwards.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Building Knowledge Everyday is a tutoring company founded in Houston, TX. Building Knowledge Everyday started on the notion that all children from any background can acquire knowledge, be taught and succeed academically. This can be achieved through time, proper guidance, practice and patience. At Building Knowledge Everyday, we feel that the children are our future and we have a passion in helping the youth reach their academic goals by tutoring them. We started our operations in North Houston and now currently service all across the Houston area. We believe in making tutoring affordable for everyone no matter the economic background. We also believe that learning is continuous and that everyday is an opportunity to grow and learn something new. Building Knowledge Everyday is not just a company, but it is a lifestyle that blossoms into a lifetime habit that all of the Building Knowledge Everyday staff hope to instill in the youth around the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I would not say our road has been smooth. The only obstacle along the way that we have faced is really getting ourselves out to the community and letting people know who we are and differentiating ourselves from the other big chain tutoring companies that are out there.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
As a tutoring company, our mission at Building Knowledge Everyday is simple. We want to create patient, passionate learners one client at a time.

We use the learning style of the student, as well as instructor output and client expectations. Together, this leads to building a winning formula that will empower our students to overcome any academic barrier that they may face on a daily basis.

As a company we are proud of the fact, that all of our tutors genuinely really do care about making a difference in the lives of the students that we tutor and our company in the future hopes to make one-on-one tutoring more of a reality to a wide range of people instead of just the wealthy and upper-middle class.

Besides our business being homegrown and black-owned, we set ourselves apart by the level of care that we give to every student we tutor. We not only tutor a student to the level of success that they want to get to in a particular subject, we also check-in with all of our students we previously tutor and become resources for them in other areas such as what are the best ways to write a college essay or what are some tips on being more organized with study materials from school.

What were you like growing up?
I am the youngest of 3 boys so growing up, I was a really an active child with a vibrant personality who liked to read, play basketball, chess and I played the piano.
