Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittani Popham and Teresa Heller.
Brittani and Teresa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We are a mother/daughter team who turns trash into treasure and can make your junk FUNKY! We paint and restore furniture using chalk paint and stains. As long as it’s wooden we can paint pretty much anything, no matter the size. From whole bedroom sets and dining room sets to nursery rooms and home decor. We have been painting together for over three years now and truly deem this work as “therapeutic” for our souls! On top of our painting and restoration business we also rent antique wooden highchairs for special first birthday events, photoshoots and announcements!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No it has not always been easy for us. To start this business required time to fill our customer’s orders, which we didn’t have at that point as I was still working. It required money for supplies, tools and paint, you’d be surprised how quickly that can of paint went dry. Thirdly, it required an adequate workspace that was big enough for us to work and store our supplies. And most importantly we needed growth, a name and an official plan. Once we had all that orchestrated, things started to fall into place for us! My family and parents are very gracious and it truly is a “family” business!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with GypsyDawn’s Restorations – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We paint and restore anything wooden using chalk paint and stains. We can do small repairs and work primarily with old antiqued furniture. Our “baby”, our signature look is a shabby chic paint style that is an old white color with “distressing” all around.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Besides painting, restoring and renting we hope to grow our clientele, sell/stock painted inventory pieces to sell to our customers and maybe one day open up a storefront to work/meet/and/or sell our items in!
