Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Jackson.
Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began working as an Adult Probation Officer without any prior criminal justice experience. I’m happy I gave it a shot because I LOVED IT! After doing the job for about 3 years, I began getting so many questions about how I got started so I began creating Youtube videos about it. The response was really good. Once the pandemic hit, I got on TikTok like everyone else and started making Probation related videos to humanize the badge. The response was overwhelming! I gained 50k followers in less than 2 months! I then started posting content consistently, until I was diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time in 2021! I was devastated of course. I went through chemotherapy and surgery to remove and reconstruct my breast. During that process, I vlogged the entire journey on youtube! The pink sisters, (that’s what I affectionately call my fellow breast cancer sisters) supported me tremendously! My YouTube community grew to over 10k subscribers. Sharing my life has now become my full-time job, along with consulting individuals and businesses about probation. My goal is to inspire and connect with people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been mostly smooth, aside from those months where chemotherapy took its toll on my body. My mental health suffered during that time as well, but my online community really helped to encourage me along the way. Now I am cancer-free, and back to doing what I love!
We’ve been impressed with Your Favorite P.O. Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After almost five years of working as an adult probation officer, I now offer probation consultations. I work 1-on-1 with people to help them get through probation successfully. My clients are mostly those who need advice after they have violated probation in some way. I don’t offer legal advice, as I’m not a lawyer, but my experience with thousands of probation cases allows me to help them in a unique way. I also provide career coaching for those looking to get into the field and become probation officers themselves. All consultations are held over the phone, so it’s easily accessible. I’m proud that I’ve been able to help so many people in the criminal justice system. Oftentimes, they save thousands in legal and probation fees by consulting with me.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that may surprise people who follow me online, is that I am a TWO TIME breast cancer survivor, and I’m a mom of two!
