Meet Byron “Byron Bank” Jones of Breakin’ Bank Records in Southeast Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron “Byron Bank” Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My passion for music started from performing at every school talent show possible. My grandmother later purchased my first keyboard through her infamous Home Shopping Network days. As my musical passion grew stronger, I joined my high school band as a trumpet player and later advanced to the percussion section. After graduation, a few good friends of mine decided to form a hip-hop group called “Uppa Dek,” and the name of “Byron Bank” was given to me. After countless shows and opening up for a few mainstream artists, the group members all went in different directions. My drive to continue pursuing a musical career would not leave my side.

I later purchased more studio equipment and started reading books. I begin to study the music industry and watch how other artists behaved and presented themselves to the masses. I later released my first project and could remember the feeling of accomplishing something so special. It was hard, but nothing comes easy without putting your best effort forward. Since then, I have released a catalog of singles, albums, and EPs, opened up for industry artists like Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Lil Scrappy, and T-Wayne, and even headlined shows. My work ethic and business demeanor have helped me further my career, where I can travel outside of Houston and work with others across the world. With all the success as an artist, I formed my record label, “Breakin’ Bank Records,” and there is more to come.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth at all. There are times when I wanted to give up, but the feeling in my heart would not let me. It started to set in more when a lot of family and friends who I thought supported me, would not show up at any of my performances. It got to a point where I would not say anything and stayed to myself. There were times where funding was hard to accomplish while being out of work due to an injury. I had a manager that was stealing, making bad business decisions, and often put me in dangerous, threatening situations. There are more, but these were the toughest yet influential times for me for sure.

Please tell us about Breakin’ Bank Records.
As the artist, “Byron Bank,” I specialize in making music that others can relate to. I try not to bring up things I have not lived or witnessed with my own experiences. My goal is to say what others are afraid to and help through challenging times. I am known for my consistency, drive, and passion as an entrepreneur. I am the chief executive officer and founder of Breakin’ Bank Records, and our mission statement sets us apart and provides a good outlook on the label specializes in. Our mission is to continue making nothing but classic, timeless music. We are here to educate, develop, and grow talent into a brand. We believe in quality versus quantity in everything we do. We strive to make sure everyone is treated like family and provided the best opportunities to succeed in the music industry.

Our company values are based around integrity, diversity, teamwork, loyalty, and, most of all, respect. We are most proud of how we can provide the tools and steps for other artists to be successful without a hidden agenda. Everything is transparent, and artists can continue to be authentic. Many artists do not understand that the music industry is a business, and they must operate in that fashion. We work with all artists who are serious about taking their career to the next level and want to build a foundation for themselves.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood would be when I lived in El Paso. My father was in the military and was based there. My sister and I use to play in this random big pine tree outside of our neighborhood with other kids. We always tried to see who could climb the highest every day after school.
