Meet Yunte’ in Third Ward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yunté.

Yunté, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing music back in 2016. It was something that I started out as doing with my roommates just as a hobby, but then, I began to grow a passion for it and it became something that I loved to do. My groupmates Mitch and Shawn really helped me understand what quality music is. From there “The Legends” (now known as MVMNT) was born.

I started to do songs on the side as well and got some great feedback and Mitch and Shawn still continued pushing me and now when I make music things that they told me are always in the back of my mind.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like nothing in life is smooth. If it’s smooth then most likely it won’t last. The toughest struggle I would have to say would be self-doubt. I used to be the kind of person who would wonder if people would like a song before I released it and then start to second guess myself about it but, now I feel the quality of music that I put out shows a lot about me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Yunte’ – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Well, Yunte’ is my stage name. A lot of people actually think that this is a name that I made up lol but, it’s actually my middle name. I am a musician who currently lives in Houston but I’m from Dallas. I call myself a musician compared to a rapper because I don’t want to be stuck inside of that one category and I believe that by my versatility I have built a solid fan base and that’s what sets me apart.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how much opportunity that there is out here. There are so many creative people in the city of Houston, so there’s always so many chances to network on a day to day basis. There is really nothing that I dislike about this city. Houston is an amazing place to be in, and with all the talent here I feel like it honestly will be the next city to pop!
