Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Neal.
Cameron, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was a child, I always dreamed of making magical awe-inspiring experiences through media arts and entertainment. This was primarily in part due to the vast influence of great creators like Walt Disney, Osamu Tezuka, Steven Spielberg, Charles Shulz, C.S. Lewis, Shigeru Miyamoto, and many others.
I was enamored by the concept of creating classics and becoming a pioneer or expert in the media arts and entertainment medium.
So, I came up with the idea for a company called Cool Comic Creations, with some help from my mom and my creative/partner in design brother, at the age of 7 to house my many ideas and efforts to make a wonderful beloved classic.
Through the years, I honed my craft and expanded my Ideas into viable and valuable intellectual properties in the hopes that one day I can turn my ideas and business into an actual competitor of so many media arts and entertainment companies I was inspired by. I am looking to gain a seat at the table.
It has been 18 years since the initial vision for my life and I have yet to gain such a seat.
I am still honing my skills and expanding my IPs and business acumen as I have done since I was a child.
I have designed many games, comics/graphic novels, comic strips. production practices, animated tv shows, fictional worlds, characters, artistic theoretical concepts, business philosophical concepts, audio and sound concepts and many other things all in the service of seeing Cool Comic Creations become a massive success.
To many on the outside, I seem like a small startup working on a whim, but the truth is my work and vision for Cool Comic Creations has been one of long-suffering, perseverance, hope, and intense love.
I made a promise to myself and I have prayed for victory in my endeavors daily. My vision of a future where I create magical media experiences is one too intoxicating for me to abandon. It is only a matter of time…
Has it been a smooth road?
In 2013, I had given up on my life.
I dropped out of college and was severely depressed about my life direction. I was working a dead end job at Buffalo Wild Wings.
I gained a lot of weight rapidly. I had always been on the larger side, but for the first time I was pushing 400lbs and I became diagnosed with diabetes.
My childhood dream was but a faint whisper during this time and I let my high hopes and imagination hide inside the deep dark recesses of my brain. I prayed daily for death’s sweet release from this life of mundane nothingness.
One day, my mother came and told me about an opportunity for Cool Comic Creations. A man who owned a company called Equilibria was looking for a way to adapt what it is that they go into a video game and wanted to give us an opportunity to help them on this venture.
In one opportunity, I felt this horrible dark cloud of depression give way to the boundless hope and imagination I had tried my best to quell and kill.
When the time came to pitch the concept Cool Comic Creations developed, I remember praying to the Lord specifically concerning this endeavor and my life. I asked the Lord if this is the path you want me on please open the door for me if it is not please turn me into the man you want me to be.
The Lord answered my prayer. They loved our concept and started working with us to develop the game.
Things were pretty smooth sailing and for the first time in my life, I truly got to see what it is I am good at shine bright. I had a team of people who helped cover my weaker areas as a creator and I slowly started to see my vision come to fruition.
That is until the oil and gas crash affected the man’s company in 2015 and so the project was put on hold indefinitely.
I was crushed beyond measure and since then I have been working non-stop to rebound into another massive creative opportunity for Cool Comic Creations.
I have yet to find something, but I remember my prayer and the promise of God given to me when He answered it.
I am an adamant Christian and I know that the Bible says that the Lord doesn’t change His mind and that He works all things out for good. Trials and tribulation are part and particle of human life.
There are days where I still pray for a change of mind or to be someone else as what I deeply desire seems so difficult to grasp concerning my present situation.
But I will trust in Him forever. I know that my years and years of labor, prayer, and hope since childhood will not be in vain
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cool Comic Creations story. Tell us more about the business.
Cool Comic Creations is a multimedia entertainment production company that focuses primarily on developing qualitative, original, multiple market-friendly IPs in the video games, comic, and televised and feature-length animation industries.
Cool Comic Creations as a company believes that creating and crafting a wonderful user experience is the key to our products. To us, quality and imagination are non-negotiable and we pour every fiber of our being into making sure this is illuminated in our work and with whom we partner with.
Cool Comic Creations understands that in order to craft the best user experience, it is important to develop fully realized worlds, characters. And stories that resonate with the user.
As a company, we also pride ourselves on our vast media knowledge, code of ethics, and ambitious trailblazing spirit.
One of the things I am most proud of that CCC has developed is a completely unique system of Game Design and Development that really illuminates and reinforces the imagination and creativity of all team members in production. This production system really serves to highlight our most important value, developing an awesome user experience.
In fact, CCC has developed systems and production methods for each multimedia industry, we are interested in that illuminates our dedication to craft and excellence.
What separates us from other brands and companies is that we are focused on building great IPs that are new, trailblazing, and leave our users with an intensely satisfying experience.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Well, I have a lot to say on this topic, lol.
I will be breaking my thoughts down for the three industries CCC primarily has a vested interest in. Video games, animation, and comics.
Concerning Video Games, we are currently seeing a big interest of major technology companies to gain a major profitable share of this entertainment market. A trend that actually started when both Sony and Microsoft jumped into the games market in the late 90s early 2000s.
Google and Apple both have always had a hand in the games market with the iPhone and Android phone but the new games-focused technology they have released indicates they are seeking to become a dominant force in the 160 billion dollar market.
This is great news as this may help game devs get a chance to secure sustainable funding methods for their projects because before Google and Apple entered the market investor confidence for unknown developers making a profitable return was really low.
There may be renewed investor interest in the market as Google and Apple’s serious entry into the market helps to legitimize the market as one for potential massive profits.
This couldn’t come too soon as the supply side of the games market is way too large due to the abundance of cheap game production technologies anyone can use to make games. However, the main problem with the games market is a lack of new audience discovery and an increase in consumer demand. Perhaps Google and Apple’s entry will help with that.
In animation, much of the same applies and now is the best time than ever to be a creator of feature film and televised animation as the streaming wars have just begun.
Netflix was the dominator of the emerging market online streaming, and in 2018, for the first time ever beat out major network providers in terms of profitability. This has caused multiple networks to jump ship into the online streaming world.
Companies like Disney who pulled a move worthy to go into the book the Art of War to gain a controlling share of Hulu and build a huge base of well-established IPs from their company acquisitions like Fox and Marvel to mount an offensive to take a dominant controlling share of the online media streaming market.
This is great news because this market is in the beginning stages and competition will be fierce between all streaming services. Each of these services will be willing to take creative risks in the hopes of developing shows that will pull the focus away from their competitors.
Animation studios and creators should jump at this chance while it lasts. For I predict this current trend is unstable and many of these endeavors will go bust in the long run due to the current instability of the media streaming services price model from a consumer standpoint.
Lastly, the comics market is in a weird predicament. It is readily apparent that single issue print media comics are a dying medium where even the major publishers like DC and Marvel are reporting a decline in sales. This is largely due to the ubiquitous nature of technology available to make and present comics and the archaic and unsustainable business model of single-issue print comics.
The future of comics lies in ingenious apps like Line.Webtoon which turns to be a subscription-based model on its head.
It is still rudimentary in its application and has poor quality control, but as soon as someone is capable of working out the kinks of the app it could become a monster of comics publishing that forever alters the industry in the future.
