Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Davis.
Chelsea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Houston TX, Southwest to be specific. Growing up, I always had a passion for all things entertainment, fashion/modeling and beauty. I was obsessed with the 90s supermodels and actresses. I aspired to be like them or do something in that field. I never wanted to do your typical 9-5. I always wanted to go into business for myself and I knew it would have something to do with Fashion. My fifth-grade year, we moved to the Northside of Houston, TX and that’s where I finished out my teenage years.
My senior year of high school was when I really started to come into my own and become clear with what I wanted to do. While everyone else was thinking about college, I was focused on working towards my own goals and owning a business. I was working for Benefit Cosmetics at the time and I decided to transfer to the galleria area to work. I started modeling local fashion shows for up and coming designers and working my cosmetic job. I started to move up in cosmetics working for Luxury Stores such as Saks and Neimans. Although Cosmetics was never my passion it was a good job with really cool opportunities. In the spring of 2013, I became pregnant with my son and that’s when I knew I was ready to go on my on. I wanted to devote as much time as I could in my son. I worked part-time at Neimans until my son was 2 and quit. I began working on PoshEdge which was originally going to be a lifestyle/fashion blog. But later decided to turn it into an Online Boutique.
Has it been a smooth road?
It honestly has not been a smooth road. I was trying to figure out what direction to go with PoshEdge, and how to set my brand apart from all the other e-commerce brands you see on Instagram. I don’t want PoshEdge to just be categorized as an Instagram Boutique. I want it to become a household name. So setting my brand apart from the others was huge for me. I’m also my own model and a mom. So finding the time to take pictures and putting myself out there in pictures was also a struggle. Especially because I’m very low key and private. It’s a challenge at times but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with PoshEdge – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
PoshEdge is an online women’s boutique specializing in Effortless Statement Pieces. I’m very proud and excited about it because it’s 100% me. When I get dressed, I never want to over do it or look forced. The goal for me is to have women look effortless, classy, and to make a statement. I pull lots of inspiration from the 90s supermodels and actresses because they embody what PoshEdge stands for. Less is more and I believe that’s what sets PoshEdge apart from others our pieces make a statement without doing too much.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like our city because it’s a lot of Boss Women out here doing the same thing I’m doing and making it happen! What I dislike is sometimes I feel like our city doesn’t stick together or support local entrepreneurs as much as they could.
