Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Wilson.
Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a passion for photography. It all started when I take a photography class in college. From that point, I was hooked on photography. I did not go into the photography business, but I became a teacher. After teaching for some years, I still had that passion for taking pictures of anything I could find. It wasn’t until I had my first child that I decided to do it professionally. After taking pictures of her, I realize that photography was more than a passion of mine. It was something that I love doing.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth. Starting out in a small business is hard, but I think photography is even harder. Building your client list is not easy. You have so many great photographers in Houston Area. I had to really get out there and work. It has paid off because I have found my niche in this business. I believe that struggles help me become a better businessman and photographer.
Major Photography 1 – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is called Major Photography 1. It is a family owned business that I run with my wife. We keep it all in the family. I have found that I’m able to give the customer great rates with great results. I believe our customer service is top of the line. The three areas we specialize in is portraits, events and sports photography. Portraits cover engagement pictures, solo portraits, headshots, senior pictures and family pictures. The events cover parties, weddings and etc. With sports photography we focus on action shots, team and individual pictures.
I’m most proud of how we connect with our clients and the great customer service that we provide. The thing that sets us apart from others are that we are able to meet each client’s individual needs with putting everything under one set rate.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far is being able to might people happy by capturing important moments in their life. It’s just that simple.
