Today we’d like to introduce you to Christi Moore.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I wish I could say my story is a happy one, that I have known since I was a teen or younger that I would be doing photography, but that isn’t my story. I knew from a young age that I liked taking pictures, I saw my uncle take them once when he came to visit, he had a DSLR camera it caught my eye. I never really thought about it, I would see kids in high school with cameras for yearbook which interested me as well, but I didn’t explore the desire any further because of some ongoing things at home.
A few years later down the road, I had just had my 3rd baby after I had Stella, I developed a deep postpartum depression. The depression was so bad that I knew I had to do something to make me feel better, I decided to invest into a DSLR which ended up being a Christmas present from my aunt, Somehow either my husband or Bestfriend knew what I was saving for and told her. When I opened it I cried, like ugly Kim k cry. I started slowly taking pictures of my children, which are great models, I had friends ask me and I started to really enjoy and feel much better, I decided to continue to pursue it further, took a workshop and learned so much.
Since then, I decided to make a business out of it and it has been one of the best decision of my life.
Has it been a smooth road?
A smooth road? is anything worth it ever a smooth road? It was and is not a smooth road. I have had to and still do struggle with hurdles as a photographer, mother, wife and just a person. Something I have struggled the most with is self-doubt, self-doubt is probably one of the biggest things I struggle with. I am always trying to push forward through it. I believe the road has made me better through each bump. I am thankful for the path that had lead me and continues to do so. Juggling everything can become hard, but it always works out and the fact that I have the biggest support system helps me get through the hard times as well as my faith in god.
God doesn’t put us through nothing we can’t handle and I believe he has a plan and we just got to go with the flow.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Christi Moore Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I remember trying to come up with a name, calling my Bestfriend and trying to brainstorm when she said “You are your brand, just use your name” and I totally loved that idea, I am my brand. A caring, hardworking and strong individual who cares about not just her clients but everyone.
I have lately been booking most Maternity session, I just adore maternity. The glow about a mother to be just makes my heart happy. It is even better when the father to be is just as happy. I try and make it easier on my clients by providing dresses for my clients to use.
I don’t just specialize in one thing, I dabble in a lot. My dream when I started this business was to be a birth photographer, I am still striving for that dream but I also enjoy other areas such as couples, engagements, events.
Recently I have started to break through into the wedding industry and have fallen in love with wedding photography, it is something I am happy to offer!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What do I like best, the people they tend to be some of the nicest that I have met. I love how you can find little gems of areas to photograph in.
The thing I like least, traffic and the fact the best lighting happens majorly around rush hour.
I do love this city though, it is such a great place.
