Meet Ciana Ibanez in Bellaire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciana Ibanez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ciana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was working as an accountant for two years when an opportunity to pursue my childhood dream of modeling appeared to me. I attended a social shoot that led to my first runway show on Valentine’s Day of this year. After my first show, I started attending social mixers to be more involved in the fashion industry, and overall, increase my knowledge of how to become a professional model on and off the runway. Rigorous effort in attending casting calls, networking with designers, models, photographers, going to rehearsals, and meeting fashion shows production companies were key to my development. Though I started modeling this year, I landed an incredible opportunity to walk in the Spring Summer 2019 Collections at New York Fashion Week! I am incredibly and forever grateful of this opportunity and could not have done it without the support of the beautiful new friends I met this year, my close friends throughout the years, and most importantly, my family. This is only the beginning, and I am still an accountant, but now, I have a dream that is slowly but surely will become a reality. I am excited what God has plan for me in the future!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was not always smooth. I have a Bachelor in Accounting that I dedicated four years of my life to achieve and successfully have a career in my field. That being said, time management was one of my biggest hurdles. Trying to find that balance in the career I am in, and the career I am pursuing in modeling gave me little time to relax, and hang out with my family and friends. I found myself having to explain what I am doing with my time, and often had to remind myself this is what I want to do. I did receive some backlash from certain people in my job, friends, and family on how I was not putting in as much time with them as was done in the past. However, I couldn’t let this negative energy effect my will to achieve my goals in life in becoming a model. In time, I hope the few who are not as happy for me, as I wish them to be will eventually be proud.

We’d love to hear more about your modeling career.
As the months gone by, I noticed a recurring critique, and that was my runway walk. I didn’t know how to take advantage of the height God blessed me with and this translated in the footage I received of myself beginning of this year. Though I will always continue to construct my skills, I am very proud of how far I have come in my walk. I am confident when I walk, and this confidence continues to translate more and more each day to my runway walk.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was not shy to talk to people, but I did not go out as much with my friends as others did. I played soccer throughout my childhood; therefore, I was known to be a soccer player in class, and not necessarily anything else. I like to talk/participate in class, so that is how I gained some friends. Nevertheless, overall, I found myself walking straight home after school and watch TV or my other addiction that is anime.
