Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Saucedo Ponce.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.
I came to USA fourteen years ago with the blessing of my mother and a small suitcase with clothes, many dreams and goals in my heart and the purpose of succeeding in life as a young and single independent woman.
I am the 1st immigrant from my whole family and also the 3rd woman who went to the University and graduated. I paid my studies with a scholarship kept during four years and a half, started working at 17 and helped my Dad with the family business for years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hotels Administration and I am a Certified Ec- 4th Bilingual Educator. I come from a culture of work, effort and sacrifice.
Being here alone in the USA has molded me into the person I am today along the road I have grown my character, strength, and more importantly found myself.
I have always been involved in planning events, helping organizations, volunteering outside of the country saving elephants in Thailand from the unethical Touristic and Entertainment Industry practices, working the Logistics of International Salsa Congresses, Political, Artistic and Touristic projects, Auctions, Fundraisers, Special Education and Networking Events to name some.
My heart has always been in this field! and flowers! Oh my love for flowers had always been there waiting silently and patiently to flourish.
I spent the most beautiful days during my childhood with my sister at my grandparents home which was more like a farm because they had it all; hens, ducks, dogs, pigs, birds, and a peacock and they had all kinds of trees like avocado, lemon, papaya, tamarind, jobitos, chiles, tomatoes and all herbs and flowers on Earth!
I was always connected to nature. I don’t know any other way than the simple and organic life I experienced since I was born. I was raised at this beautiful beach city always barefooted, riding my bike, swimming under full moons, eating coconuts and pineapples.
My grandma loved to spend hours and hours in her garden. I never understood why until recently when I started creating this personal and intimate bond with flowers. Flowers connect me to my roots, my emotions, take me back to Mexico and allow me to express myself bringing joy to others and beautifying places.
My mindset changed a couple of years ago as I started evolving and my soul was awakening with a higher level of consciousness. I experienced a big process of personal growth and that’s when the entrepreneur in me started to arise. I changed my environment, my circle, some habits and I started craving more out of life like: time, freedom, and beauty.
AMORA FLOWER BAR was born in my mind and my heart and it was finally launched seven months ago.
The warm welcome, support and feedback from Houston has been rewarding and empowering. Thank you Houston! I love you!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the most difficult for me is to find balance and the transition I am going through to leave the life I have been living for more than a decade to start something new and dedicate myself to my business. I have a full-time job as a teacher and after school, I dedicate 8 hrs to Amora. I have been working restlessly 24/7 to earn my opportunities I know I am building my path to something big and beautiful and that requires everything from me.
AMORA FLOWER BAR is something I prayed for and wanted with all my heart. I have been building my business alone with the help of God, the company of my puppy who has gone through everything with me and my parents cheering for me from Mexico all the way through.
Lately, I have been so blessed to build a team of trust and work with some friends who have been doing everything for my brand: modeling, makeup, hair, photoshoots, branding, marketing. They believe in me. They push me to dare, to be more creative, to leave my comfort zone, to take risks.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.
