Today we’d like to introduce you to Clint, Chad, and Jennifer Starrett.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2015 Clint bought a 1 oz bottle of beard oil online for $40, smelled like a spice rack, left his beard dry and his wallet empty. We decided to mix up a few oils ourselves and came up with 4 really great blends. We shared with our bearded friends, received great feedback and decided to look into the beard oil business.
At the time, there were a lot of beard oil companies nationwide but nothing in the Houston area. We researched all natural oils and began to work on our products. May 2015 is when we launched our first set of all natural oils and in August we launched our website. Our goal was to bring quality all natural oils at affordable prices. Every oil we put out has been tried and tested by Clint and Chad. We make sure to blend oils that actually work well together and add essential oils for a subtle scent.
The last quarter of 2015 is when we started doing local markets and pop up events. It was a great way to get our product and name out there. The response was amazing and people were excited to see a beard grooming company in town. We are all very hands-on and enjoy talking to everyone that stopped by our booths. We found that more often than not men were buying an oil online but weren’t happy with their purchase because it was either too greasy, didn’t do anything for their beard or smelled horrible.
We continue to do local markets/ events in Houston and surrounding areas but most of our business is online now. This year we began to ship internationally. Our products are also sold in 2 local barbershops and 3 boutiques.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been smooth for the most part. We really enjoy what we do!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Templar Beard Company – what should we know?
We provide all natural, handmade beard grooming products. We specialize in beard oils, beard balms, and beard washes. We also carry wooden combs, boar’s hair brushes, shaving kits and merchandise. We are known for our customizable build a beard kits, Bearded Texas logo and our oils and balms. We are proud of our repeat customers. We have customers that have been with this us since 2015 and continue to support us to this day.
Sets us apart… customer service, if someone spends their hard earned money on our product we want to make sure they know how much we appreciate them by being here for any question or need they may have.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Clint and Chad are very personable. It’s easier to approach them about beard related questions if it feels like your talking to your bud. Believe it or not, men have a ton of questions about beard products!
