Meet C’na Roberts Coleman of C’na Roberts Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to C’na Roberts Coleman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us C’na Roberts. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
For as long as I can remember, I have had some kind of camera in my hand. I can show you pictures of my great grandparents, where I remember posing them and taking their photograph at the age of 6. Now, their heads were barely in the photos because I was 6, but they were some of my first models.

I was the kid in middle school who was on the yearbook staff capturing all of the memories and in high school, I was the Editor of the newspaper and I was on the yearbook staff as well. My Mom bought me my first professional film camera when I was in the 7th grade and I still have it today. Growing up, I dreamed of working at a magazine, not only taking amazing photos but also writing tear-jerking articles. I figured that by having both skills would only be a plus so I attended the Dan Rather School of Communications at Sam Houston State University and majored in Journalism and Photography.

My sorority sister hired me to shoot her wedding in 2004 and C’na Roberts Photography was born. I had never shot a wedding before then but I fell in love with love. C’na Roberts Photography specializes in lifestyle and wedding photography, providing vivid and creative photojournalism.

Has it been a smooth road?
Photography is an ever-changing field, so I feel like I am always learning to perfect my craft. Starting a business, in general, is not for the faint at heart, there are slow months where people are not booking as much as you would like and then there are extremely busy months. In the slow season, I like to let my creative juices flow and shoot styled shoots and other projects.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the C’na Roberts Photography story. Tell us more about the business.

I honestly feel a sense of joy every time a client tells me they love their images after viewing their gallery. A lot of my clients are what I like to call “Forever Clients.” I have photographed every important milestone in their life to where they are like family and I am forever grateful.

What sets me apart from others is that my clients are my ideal clients and they get me. I have never had a bridezilla and I think that is because I really enjoy the connection in letting the clients be themselves in front of the camera without any pressure.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think the photography industry will continue to grow and expand in many ways. With the way cell phones are being made these days, I’m sure there will be more cell phone photographers popping up but the need for a professional photographer will never go away.
