Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Whitehead.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Courtney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from Macon, Ga. I moved to Atlanta, Ga to attend college at Georgia State University. While studying at Georgia State University, I took a real estate course as an elective because I wanted to learn the business. Upon graduating from Georgia State, I stayed in the Atlanta area and worked in the insurance industry. I also completed a master’s degree in Marketing. In 2014, I visited my cousins in Houston for Memorial Day weekend and I had a great time. I actually was not quite ready to leave and Houston had been on my heart. In 2017, my job at the time was going to deploy me to Houston as a catastrophe insurance adjuster for Hurricane Harvey, but they decided to let me work the storm from our Georgia office. I encountered so many Houstonians who lost everything but still displayed a positive attitude through it all. I was in awe. In 2018, I turned 30 and I was ready to make a change. I wanted to grow. I decided to finally move to Houston. A month after moving to Houston, I enrolled at Champions Real Estate School as real estate was still an interest of mine. I finished my courses and passed the Texas Real Estate exam on the first try. I am now a realtor! I became a first-time homeowner when I was 26 and one of my goals is to educate all consumers and to also inspire millennials to consider homeownership. Houston is a great city for it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not always been so smooth. One of my challenges would be that I am not from here originally, but I do spend a lot of time driving around and learning the city. I also love to network and connect with people, but it was definitely something I worried about starting as a realtor and building clientele when I was studying for my real estate licensing exam, being that most of my friends and family are in Georgia. I am grateful to have family here also and I have gained support from people along the way here in Houston. If you just be your genuine self, people will support you.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Realtor Courtney Whitehead – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a realtor (my sponsoring broker is Texas United Realty). I specialize in assisting my clients with buying and selling residential properties. In addition, I specialize in helping my clients lease apartments and residences. Another niche that I have proudly gotten into is investment properties. Currently, I have clients that I am working with right now who are investors.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, I would love to work towards a broker license. Also, I have small business venture ideas that I would like to start in Houston in the very near future.
