Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Wilkerson.
Courtney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a young child, I would write my own music, sing, and dance at church, school, or simply for family entertainment. By the age of 12, I knew I was going to be a boss and be a force in the entertainment industry. I had a natural gift for identifying talent and bringing people together. I started interning with Lady Luxe when they were signed to Matthew Knowles at Music World, during my high school years, and soon developed a passion for artist development. I started my own gospel group and titled myself as an A&R/Manager ever since. I became known as a tastemaker in the industry when it came to indy artists and the social scene. I developed my personal brand as Cooley Knows Best and have built and maintained great relationships worldwide.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Asking me if it’s been a smooth road, is asking me if pigs fly. Gaining respect as a woman in the industry hasn’t been easy at all. You can’t take things personally and have to always keep your word. With the sound of music changing every day, I make it a mission for people to know true, real, authentic music still exists.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about CKB ENTERPRISES – what should we know?
I specialize in doing cool shit.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My positive spirit and personality.
