Meet Courtney Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Williams.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Courtney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off as a single mom of one, wondering how did I end up in my situation and if I would ever have the life that I always dreamed of. I was raised in a single parent household and always told myself that I wanted something different for my children. When I found my self 23, a recent college grad, pregnant, and unwed, my spirit was crushed. I was so upset with myself. I allowed guilt, shame, and resentment to overcome me for quite some time. When I found out I was having a daughter halfway through my pregnancy, I told myself that I can’t be a role model to my soon to be a daughter with the way I was acting. I would want her to know that Christ is a redeemer. That we aren’t defined by our mistakes. That no matter what unexpected things happen in life, we can still get everything and more out of life that we want. I started to go to church more regularly, read my bible more often. Focus on bettering myself and my career. Each day, I started to hold my head a little higher. I started thanking God in advance for the family I’ve always desired. Fast forward seven years, I’ve been married a little over three years and have had two more daughters since marrying my husband. Now, I’m a mommy to three beautiful girls. I also gained a handsome son through marriage due to my husband being a father of one when we got married. I started a blog where now more than 50,000 people have stopped by to read blogs about single motherhood, marriage, blending families, and much more! I have the privilege of sharing my story with women all over the world through interviews, speaking engagements, and more. I’m grateful that my testimony gives other women and single moms hope!

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been without some bumps in the road. Being a single mom is tough, dating as a single mom is tough and so is blending a family. Every time things got hard I just looked back over my life at how God brought me through every tough time and knew that the current times would be no different.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My blog is a lifestyle blog, www.courtneynwilliams.com, that talks all things single motherhood, motherhood in general, marriage, family life, blending families, faith, fashion and more! I pride myself on being very transparent. I talk about the good, the bad, and the UGLY. I believe there’s something so powerful about women, moms, and wives being open about the struggles we all go through. It’s good to know that we are not alone and can all be in this together. I also mentor other women who would like to start a blog of their own.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Blogging is HUGE right now with no slowing down in sight. It’s such a cool gig because you’re just sharing on topics or things that you’re passionate about and now there’s a way to make some major money as bloggers. Huge companies and corporations now turn to bloggers and “influencers” to market their business and products before they utilize traditional marketing. Bloggers who started off just sharing on topics that they love find themselves working with brands that they’ve always loved and made great money while doing so.
