Meet Craig Williams of Craig’s Voice Talent in League City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Williams.

Craig, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
During my young adult years (between 17 and 25) I was one of the leading nightclub DJ’s in Scotland. Most of my time was spent as the resident DJ at Scotland’s number 1 nightclub. Marriage and having children meant that working in the nightclub industry was not a great family choice. I decided to go back to school and get my Electrical Engineering degree. This eventually led to me working in the North Sea Oil and Gas industry. In 2012, we decided to move to Houston as a career opportunity arose.

During the time as an engineer, I always missed music and being behind the microphone. As I am quite a shy person, I always thought of working behind the microphone in an industry where I could stay anonymous. As I always listened to the radio, I kept hearing commercials and always thought to myself that I would be good at that. Eventually, I contacted a voiceover coach in Houston and started my journey in 2016. After many, many hours coaching with this gentleman I decided to up my game and started coaching with one of the industry leaders in LA (Nancy Wolfson). I now provide the voice for many clients including Amazon, ADP, Barclay’s Bank, Duracell, GlaxoSmithKline, CarGuru’s Daily Mail +, Rolls Royce and many more. My main focus is internal corporate work and commercials.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I work my regular 8-5 job as well as perform voiceovers. This requires me to wake up at 5am to start voiceover work for my UK clients. I then go to work at 7:30am and return home at around 6pm. I then have to work another 2 hours at night on my other voiceover clients. I also work at the weekends. It is a struggle. I also thought that I would start earning in voiceover straight away. I soon realized that it is like any other business and takes time to flourish. I am now three years into my five years plan where I hope to earn enough in my voiceover work to give up my day job. I am on track but it is hard!

Craig’s Voice Talent – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
