Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalie Trahan.
Kalie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I decided after high school that I wanted to open a bakery but needed to know the business side of the world that I wanted to pursue. I also decided to take art classes as well since most of custom cakes are lots and lots of actual edible art. (Painting, molding, carving, airbrushing)
While going through business school, I took classes for pastries and started taking orders from home, after graduating with a bachelor’s in business and a minor in art my husband and I started preparing to open a storefront since my orders were getting so intensely large. Mark works a full-time job as well as helps run the bakery, it absolutely wouldn’t be as successful as it is without all his help and support… It took a full year after graduating to finally get the storefront ready and open. We are now almost 1 year old! YAY! This journey has been absolutely amazing following my dreams but I 100% could not have done it without my awesome family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Just like any small business, it has definitely had its hard days, the hardest part was getting open. All the regulations, rules and state laws made it hard for any business to open its doors. Once it was open it was everything I had wanted and more. The best decision we had ever made.

We specialize in custom cakes. We are most known for the taste along with the edible art side, unlike most local bakeries we do carved cakes (cakes that look like 3d objects and very realistic). We have also been known for our cupcakes and cookies, these are sold daily and we do a lot of different weird flavors along with regular flavors. Our absolute most popular treat is our eggless cookie dough flavors. These include chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreo cookie dough, oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough and sugar cookie dough. We plop this with a scoop on top of our gourmet cupcake and it tastes like heaven in your hand! I am most proud of how far we have come from when I first started in our tiny home kitchen, doing orders during the day and school at night.
What were you like growing up?
Honestly unlike Mark, I was extremely shy. I did not know how to talk to people nor interact with strangers. Opening the bakery has completely changed this side of me, I constantly get complimented on being such a people person to customers all day long!
