Meet Dana Brook of Wicked Lash in Clear Lake Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Brook.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, first and foremost, I’m a born and bred Houstonian! I have lived in the same 30 mile radius my entire life and while that may sound boring to some, I love it! I have traveled all over and there is no other place I would rather hang my hat.

I was raised by a single mother that struggled to make ends meet but never let us know how difficult it was because she always found a way to give us everything we needed. She taught me how to be resourceful and never take no for an answer; there is always a way through, you just have to look for it. She showed me that no matter how daunting a challenge might seem, I am strong enough and smart enough to overcome anything. That’s me, I am the woman my mother raised. Little did I know how those early life lessons would be needed as an employee and now as a business owner.

In a previous life I was a Procurement and Logistics Specialist in the Oil and Gas Industry. I was always good at my job but it was never something that had my heart; it wasn’t something I had dreamed of doing. I fell into it after college and worked my way up the corporate ladder. Then…the crash hit. I was laid off twice in the span of 6 months and to say that I was devastated would be the understatement of the century. I found myself walking in the same shoes my mother had all of those years ago. I was a single mother barely making ends meet on unemployment and living off of savings. I was sending out hundreds of resumes each week and couldn’t find work. I struggled. A lot.

After some encouragement from my mom about going back to school, I sat down and had a long talk with my teenage daughter about what she thought of my crazy idea and how our lives would change. She gave me the best response a mother could ask for, “We got this mom! I’m proud of you”. So, I decided that I would do a career 180 and go back to school to pursue something that I love…so that’s what I did.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth? I don’t think anything worth having will ever be smooth. I struggled through school with a lack of confidence and a feeling of selfishness not being able to provide for my daughter as I had in the past. Without encouragement from my mom, daughter, friends and boyfriend…I think I would have given up and taken the easy route. Now, work is hard…running a business is even harder. The struggle in my industry is always finding the right clientele. Finding women that know their worth and expect nothing but the best–which is what we provide. There’s also a lot of misinformation about what we do and it’s a constant battle to educate. With that being said, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love my job, I love making women feel great about themselves and I am proud of the legacy I’m building for my daughter.

Please tell us about Wicked Lash.
I am the owner of The Wicked Lash Company. We are 100% mobile Lash Extension Specialists serving the Greater Houston area; from Galveston to The Woodlands and everywhere in between. We pride ourselves in providing women with luxury, unparalleled expertise through constant education and the highest quality products made in North America.

I want my clients to feel special and know that during their appointment, they have my undivided attention. As women, in general, we tend to put ourselves last. Whether that be because of work, family, school or children…it’s easy to let ourselves slide to the back burner and I want to change that, one woman at a time.

That’s why Wicked Lash is mobile. There’s no need to fight traffic or rearrange schedules and take time away from the other 5000 things you have to do in a day…we come directly to you! That is what sets us apart from everyone else. That is what we are most proud of…helping women feel better about themselves and fitting it into their busy life!

To make it even easier, by 2018 we will have a fully loaded, stylish, custom Mercedes Sprinter Van! It will be amazing. Can you imagine?…we pull up to your house and you get in the Wicked Lash Mobile Lounge, the most beautiful salon you’ve ever seen, have your lashes done and you never even have to leave your driveway!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. I try really hard to not live my life with regrets, in general. Every misstep, every struggle, every sleepless night, they all meant something. I learned something I needed to know. If I changed anything, I wouldn’t have the knowledge I have today.
