Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Doyle.
Danielle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a little girl, my mom worked at the local makeup counters in Biloxi, Mississippi. So instead of Barbie makeup I played with Estee Lauder. I’ve always loved colors and turned to painting and drawing as an outlet throughout my childhood. When graduating high school, I wanted to go to art school. My dad said, “artists don’t make money until they’re dead” so he refused to pay for that. While in college I modeled part time and got to know some makeup artists in the industry. It was then, I realized that they were painting and I could do that too, that I would love to do that!
In 1999, I started The Perfect Face, an on-location hair and makeup company, where the artist comes to you. I had an amazing team of very talented artists from all over Houston. We were at the top of our game doing over 750 weddings a year, we were the official makeup artists for Miss Texas USA and we worked on magazines, commercials, special occasions, you name it! While working on so many different faces, skin types and skin tones I was always mixing products to get just the right shade or color. It was then I began creating The Perfect Face Cosmetics. During that time, I spent years meeting with chemists doing research and development.
In 2007, our cosmetics line roots began. I launched The Perfect Face Cosmetics – Cosmetics Designed for Film, Photography, Stage and Everyday Perfection, with brushes; from there, we added eye colors, blush, lips then finally our coveted foundation. Since then I have dropped the artist team from our business model and have added a family of my own 3 little boys. Being a wife and mommy has kept me very busy and has definitely made me reprioritize. When I’m not dating my husband, homeschooling or playing with my 3 little guys. I now spend my extra time developing new shades and products, curating our ad campaigns, overseeing the day to day business and keeping our brand relevant.
Since the rebranding of TPF Cosmetics we have seen great growth in the past few years. Last year we were blessed to become the Official Cosmetics Sponsor for the 2016 MISS USA and MISS TEEN USA competitions.
We were beyond honored when receiving the same sponsorship this year again for 2017. The line is continuing to grow rapidly. In September of 2016 we began to offer wholesale to salons, spas and boutiques.
We are now available for retail in 13 locations spanning 8 states and growing daily. This month saw the much anticipated release of our one of a kind luxury makeup brush line. I worked on these babies for 2 years perfecting them. With etched finger grooves for the perfect grip and inlaid crystals they are every glamour girls dream. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every business has ups and downs I think one of the biggest struggles in the cosmetics industry is patience and quality control. Each product that leaves our factory and makes it into your shipment or on the shelf has my stamp of approval on it. I’m a perfectionist, hence The “Perfect” Face. I want to make sure everyone loves their makeup so I test, test, test our products until they are perfect which sometimes takes up a lot of time, so patience is definitely a struggle. I get so excited when I know I’m launching a new product but from conception to testing to launch I’m usually looking at 2 years for one product!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Perfect Face Cosmetics is designed for film, photography, stage, and everyday perfection. Our cosmetics are designed without sunscreen or light reflecting ingredients because we want the colors you put on your face to read true to a camera, film or under hot stage lights. Our clientele consists of Hollywood starlets, MISS UNIVERSE, beautiful brides and the everyday woman. We feel that women should always feel glamorous, sparkly and girly when they want to. Life may not be perfect but your makeup can be!
The Official Cosmetics Sponsor for the 2016 and 2017 MISS USA and MISS TEEN USA competitions.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I loved art, I always wanted to create, whether that be with a brush and canvas or with glitter and glue and a pinecone found in my backyard. I am an only child so I had to be creative in play. I was the only girl in my neighborhood of about 6-7 little boys. I played in the mud with them and climbed trees but did it all while wearing a pink frilly dress and making them play Barbies with me too 🙂 In school my report cards always said I talked too much. I’ve always been outgoing and have no problem talking too much still.
