Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Mcmillan.
Hi Danny, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my food blog or blogging in general, as an expressive outlet during Covid. It was good to get out of the house and bond with friends over a good meal. Of course, it’s even better when it’s a pretty meal, haha. I love making new memories and being able to capture that in the footage.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the biggest obstacle for me has been creating a following in an overcrowded market. It’s hard to differentiate when there are others doing the same with much bigger followings. Another obstacle is finding opportunities. I think the biggest obstacle is food blogging isn’t cheap so making a budget for that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m most proud of not giving up and being my authentic self. I love to translate my personality to my footage. I work full time as a project manager in healthcare so I can only blog after work. I pride myself on trying to outdo my previous work and seeing the growth in my own videos from where I started. I think this is what sets me apart from others.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think the biggest risk is going to a restaurant not knowing if you will be able to meet their expectations. It’s really nerve-wrecking showing up with a camera and a light with everyone just watching in fascination and anticipation of the finished project.
