Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dutton.
David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started working on my business over 19 years ago, when I was working for Conn’s. I started doing A/V work on the side and business was so great, that I decided to leave Conn’s to pursue my own company, Sound By Design in 1998. In the last 19 years, we have managed to grow the company to not only residential, but commercial too. We have a customer base that spreads all across the Houston area, and we are always expanding.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am now has not always been smooth sailing. Like many businesses we have faced some ups and downs. However, in the 19 years we have been in business, we have managed to surpass our struggles. One struggle I have faced personally is being a single dad for the past 15 years and learning to manage my time accordingly.
Sound By Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Here at Sound By Design we specialize in the installation of Residential and Commercial Audio/Video Systems. We offer services like home theater, home automation, security cameras, and internet networking. We offer over 19 years of expertise in the AV industry. We are proud of our level of customer service we offer, like my cell phone being on at all times and our 90-day warranty included in our installation packages. We have a team of knowledgeable technicians that do their best to meet and surpass all expectations.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
In the last 19 years, we have seen our fair share of ups and downs but we have maintained our integrity in business to support our customers with the best service possible.
