Meet David Garcia of SlumpedSessions in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Garcia.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started January of 2018, me and my girlfriend had the idea for the show. Using our savings for equipment we needed to execute our plan we dove in headfirst and went all in. Growing up I was kid who loved morning radio and watching the news as well as HipHop and Music and thats what planted the seed to what would later be the podcast.

With the support of my girlfriend (Sofia Tellez) we came out strong with the podcast and the idea to help the Houston Underground artist scene. The music scene in Houston is so vast and loaded with talent that there has to be a place for them to be able to promote and tell their stories. Early on we had a “Partnership” with some EX-friends that showed us Early on to be careful who you do business with. In my opinion we came out strong and began to be real contender in the Houston Media scene.

This July 27th we are having the first ever Slumpedsessions show for the One year anniversary of the show. Were having 30 super talented artists with food and clothes from great local Houston brands. Over the course of the first year we have grown more rapidly than I could have ever imagined. When starting out I would have never guessed I would be able to obtain Two local sponsors from great brand (Reneka Digital & Fishscale Clothing). I never guessed I would be able to move to an office in the first year from starting out doing interviews in my living room. I also never guessed I would be around some of the biggest names in Music and being invited to film events.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The main struggle has been with time. Being a father of One and one on the way, the show requires a lot of time and attention so I feel like that has been the biggest struggle.

SlumpedSessions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our business is in media, at the core we are a podcast that showcases the Underground talent as well as entrepreneurs in the city. Beyond the podcast we film events and music videos for different artists. I believe what sets us apart is our dedication to the Underground and local music scene. My research and desire to get to know the artist is what sets us apart. We genuinely enjoy showing love and going out to shows to support the local scene.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
The idea of success to me is defined by achieving each goal you set out to accomplish. I believe success is a never ending quest to accomplish goal after goal.
