Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Holman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a love for beauty and fashion. Beauty was natural to me, so I decided to study Cosmetology at Kashmere High School. After high school graduation, I found a new love in makeup. I would always get compliments on my makeup and was encouraged to become a makeup artist. I decided to pursue formal makeup training courses and dove into the art of makeup application. For several years, I was a freelance makeup artist working with Brides, on photo shoots and with special event makeup. I also worked for brands such as MAC Cosmetics & Estee Lauder. Eventually, I decided to add more beauty services and soon discovered eyelash extensions. I completed Novalash Eyelash Extensions certification and became licensed through The State of Texas. In 2016, I was proudly certified in Borboleta Volume Eyelash Extensions. Shortly after, my husband and I created Luxe Makeup and Lash Lounge. Luxe is an ode to beauty, glam makeup and flawless lashes. Enhancing our customers’ beauty and delivering beautiful lashes is our mission.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Luxe Makeup & Lash Lounge was opened without one customer. Luckily, I had the expertise of my entrepreneurial husband an MBA graduate in Marketing. My husband guided my business, performed market research, location scouting and target marketing building my clientele. During this time, I focused heavily on growing my lash skillset, which has grown tremendously.
One of our biggest obstacles was an over saturated market. We had to figure out what separated Luxe from other beauty companies to encourage consumer sales. We decided to put our customers first, delivering high quality beauty services at an extremely competitive price.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Luxe Makeup & Lash Lounge story. Tell us more about the business.
Luxe offers flawless eyelash extensions, high lash retention and glam makeup services. We take pride in delivering natural looking premium lashes at an affordable price. Luxe specializes in customized Classic and Volume lash extensions. Customers choose from faux mink or silk lashes, their desired look and lash style. Our most popular lash looks are flirty cat eyes and cute doll eyes. Luxe’s top seller is Flawless Hybrid Lashes perfect for filling in gaps and increasing lash volume. For those with drooping eyelids, longer eyelashes will make them look younger and fresher. No time for makeup or mascara? Lash extensions beautifully provide that Wake up & Go look.
Luxe Makeup Artists are skilled in Glam Traditional, Airbrush and Special Effect Makeup. We specialize in the hottest makeup trends providing bridal, prom and special occasion makeup in studio and on location. We strive to enhance our client’s natural beauty with makeup, while making them look and feel like themselves. At Luxe, we’re most proud of our natural ability to provide the best customer experience possible. Our passion for beauty & customer service sets us apart. In the future, Luxe plans to offer more beauty services, including signature facials and waxing services to keep up with customer demand.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beauty industry never goes out of style! It will continue strong growth because every woman desires to look and feel beautiful. Plus, there are always new techniques and trends coming out in the beauty industry. The makeup industry will remain strong with the help of makeup bloggers and social media enthusiasts driving the industry. Eyelash extensions growth is on the rise due to new lash consumers trying and falling in love with the service.
