Meet Delvin Bridges of DJ D NICE Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delvin Bridges.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Delvin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in the ’90s with no internet, no social media, really molded us to be kids with imagination and hobbies. My mom always gave me the freedom to dedicate 100 percent effort into what every interest I had. Learning a strong work ethic early in life reflects on how I conduct business now. Houston’s very own DJ Remix would spin vinyl records for me and friends while we would practice breakdancing. For many years, we put countless hours, days, weeks, into learning this form of expression through body language. Ive had many hobbies with one common root, that’s music. Having a background in music and entertainment has been a part of my life for many years. I started off just playing music for family gatherings and neighborhood HOA events. Event entertainment started off as a hobby and now has turned into creating memorable events weekly. Currently, I’m working with a group of DJ’s that I consider my brothers to present Houston’s hottest and newest event company Imperial Entertainment.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With anything you do, you have to start from the bottom up. I feel I’ve been blessed with the gift of being mentored by the right people. Sacrificing time away from family and close friends has been the hardest. Balancing work and life can be demanding but passion keeps me motivated.

Please tell us about DJ D NICE Houston.
Growing up in Houston, we have a huge Latin demographic. As an African American, being able rock a Latin party and have my clients feel that I can relate to their music background has helped me the most. I’ve had guest of events numerous times tell me how shocked they are that I’m so knowledgeable of their music. It doesn’t stop there, to say what’s my specialty or what sets me apart, I would say being able to cover so many genres that the average DJ hasn’t. It’s not like I just walk out and go to an event for an Indian, Nigerian, or client with an Asian background. I would gig for free starting off just to advertise my self. Social media and different internet platforms has helped also. Being able to cover any genre of music on the spot requires lots of homework. Imperial Entertainment Is a company that Im most proud to be apart of. We are a brand unlike any other company here in the Houston area. Formed by an association of DJs with the enthusiasm to deliver the highest caliber of entertainment to our parties. We strive to stay above the industry standard and coming up with new ideas for not what’s the newest thing but for what trend can we set. We are a very diverse company and hold each other accountable to representing the company with a 5 star customer service to say the least. Building a brand to be remembered, you must give that wow factor every time your seen.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I’d say traveling with my mom. She has always been a hard worker. We would load up in the car just me and her and travel to Dallas for the weekend. She would spend the whole weekend working as a hairdresser from morning to late night. One factor is that we needed the money but on the other hand there are tons of beauty shops in Dallas. These women really wanted my mom to travel all the way from Houston just to do there hair. She had such a huge demand that they would wait for her just to come to town. The drive, the conversations, the quality family time that’s what I loved the most.
