Today we’d like to introduce you to DePaul Norwood.
DePaul, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is DePaul Rashadd Norwood and I’m a Houston native who started doing makeup out of my mom’s living room! I thought it was going to be a side god and it turned into a business! A full-time business with clientele that waited around in the living room until it was their time to get in the chair. My mom made me started buying snacks and made me order magazines and we invested in cable so people could have something to watch while they waited! I mean I left my job to pursue makeup full time! Thank God I did after just a year I went from servicing my friends and some of their friends to clientele that paid my bills and kept me secure! I created a booming web series on YouTube called “The Real Gaywives of Houston with well over one million views on the channel and over 14k subscribers!
So, I was a MUA by day and an actor by night networking and pushing myself to do more! Everything was looking up Then one day I got some disturbing news about my mom! My mom was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer in 2017. and in October 2018 my mother passed away in her sleep from complications with the cancer! It threw my world upside down and I had to learn how to live again! Her passing took something away from me and one day I had to start praying like I was raised to do and since then I’ve gained a more personal relationship with God and now, I’m in such a better position! I’m in church now and loving every min of this new peaceful life! I have a new makeup line that drops this fall and my new website launching in May www.depaulnorwood.com with all new exclusive content and better ways to book me for parties. weddings and concert events! I’m a performer as well and planning a huge show. I was once a part of a dance diva group called “the Kardashions” and I lost a group member last June and this year I’m going to honor Kerry Jackson and dance in her memory! Life has thrown me curve balls I was homeless doing Fox interviews and makeup segments and no one knew! My mom has just died and I was lost! I had to pray for the smile and joy I have now! I’m being loved correctly now and I’m loving myself better than I ever have in the past! I’m on a new journey now and I’m excited to put out great art this year! Plus, I have a new web series coming out geared towards the fem. full-figured gay male! We have been fat shamed and put down a lot and I’ve had enough this new web series will show the love life of this character I’ve named “Phine” as in “fine”. and it will show him dating and having an active life. things they don’t show on tv!! I’m bold. I’m fearless and I just thank God I’ve found my joy and peace again!!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth ride I’ve been homeless sad. defeated but I’ve never given up! My manager Alex Green has been so instrumental in my life! She gave me hope when I lost hope for myself!
Nordeshir Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business Coach Dawniel Winningham has really taught me more about my business than I thought!! I’m grateful my business name is Nordeshir Productions and what we do here is shoot promo videos for companies’ social media! Plus, I’m a makeup artist so people hire me the lead makeup artist from Nordeshir Productions to come out and do makeup for their events! That’s y I created DePaul Beauty because I wanted people to see Nordeshir Productions offers more than my spicy voice overs and editing! We specialize in beauty and lifestyle! I’m know for my loud and vibrate personality and smooth soft makeup styles! I’m most proud on how my business has been on several publications and tv and film!! I started all this in my mom’s living room so to see how far I’ve become is humbling!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I use to think success was all about money but life taught me that success is defined in the way u recover from any downfall and how far u can go past the downfall!! You can be down for a little while but remember it’s how u get back up and recover that defines you! I have goals as we all do so I’m doing my best to stay ahead of the curve!
