Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Everette.
Ebony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in North Carolina, I moved to Texas in 2009 to start my life over with my husband and daughter. Not knowing hardly anyone I enrolled in school and started my journey to become a professional hair stylist. I’ve always known how to do hair but I wanted the proper education I wanted the official paper (my license). Faced many obstacles along the way and even wanted to throw in the towel, but one thing I always wanted to teach my daughter is to never give up, keep pushing and always rely on God to get you through. Here I am ten years later still serving the San Antonio area and also working on a product line. First product that is out as of now is my HD oil, an all-natural oil good for maintaining moisture.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With not being from here I had to get my name out there and really market myself. Often times stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things.
Please tell us about Hair by Ebony.
I am the owner and operator of Hair by Ebony, a licensed cosmetologist, I specialize in extension install (standard sew in, braidless sew in and link extension) I also specialize in natural hair, box braids, hair care, etc. I am most proud of journey, compared to where I started when first moving to Texas back in 2009, I have a steady clientele which is constantly growing everyday. What sets me apart from others is my true love for this profession and the ability to change one’s attitude after leaving my chair, that extra boost of confidence.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would have to say being in my mother’s salon (the main reason I got into this field). Growing up my I remember going with her early on Saturday mornings and spending hours either sweeping floors or cleaning and folding towels (waiting to get my hair done lol)… and just watching as she did each client, having conversations about any and everything, seeing the expression on their faces while looking in the mirror after she was done. She would spend hours on hours working on clients and no matter how long she had been working, she made sure that everyone walked out being fully satisfied and happy. And because of that, I aim to do the same with my clients as well.
