Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisa Fierro.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Elisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In my current role as a Financial Advisor, I manage my own practice and concurrently lead the Asset Valuation effort for Manske Wealth Management. I’ve always wanted to both help people and make a meaningful impact on my community, and I have that opportunity daily here helping my clients navigate some of their most important challenges. Prior to joining Manske Wealth Management, I worked as a private tutor for children with learning disabilities and I took a lot of satisfaction in helping them with both cognitive goals and social skills. One of the things I loved about that job and my current career is that each client requires different guidance and I am constantly presented with unique situations that require an original approach to the achievements that matter most to them.
After completing a leadership seminar led by Chris Manske, the company’s founder, I realized the culture and values at Manske Wealth Management align well with my own. My team and I are a major force in the Houston investment scene because we’re setting a compelling and unique trend for the financial services industry very similar to other cutting-edge leaders in other industries. For example, in the furniture business, there’s one company that clearly recognizes how much customers don’t like buying their bedroom set and then waiting a month to get it in their home. In roadside convenience stores, one company sets the standard for the consistently cleanest bathrooms. In my industry, Wall Street is infamous for financial advisors failing to communicate with their clients and investors fire their advisors for “lack of communication” more than any other reason.
Our firm’s motto, Every Client, Every Month is more than just a mantra. It is a culture that ensures none of my clients can say, “It’s been so long since I’ve heard from Lisa.” With my colleagues, I am helping to revolutionize financial services by enforcing a communication standard, Every Client, Every Month, which is just as rare as buying a sofa and getting it in your home the same day or knowing the gas station bathroom will be immaculate. I’ve grown almost $30 million in investment assets in the last three years and during that time, the company’s growth has skyrocketed more than 100% in annual revenue.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am fortunate to have a mentor in the President of my firm who truly works to make the road as smooth as possible. I deeply believe that nothing worth having comes easily and I think any entrepreneur would agree that success requires a disciplined work ethic. There’s also the fact that only about 16% of all financial advisors are women. This lack of representation makes the industry less capable of serving women in general, and it’s ironic because the flexibility typically afforded successful financial advisors is exactly the kind of career characteristics many women seek.
Being a high performer at Manske Wealth isn’t easy because my colleagues are all superlative. Taking the reins on our Asset Valuation work meant that I became a resource for any advisor on the team who has a client in a divorce or separation situation. As the months turned into years, many Houston attorneys and CPAs also rely on me when their client must separate complex investments that are difficult to value.
Manske Wealth Management – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Beyond our commitment to systematic communication with our clients, I also operate under a Fiduciary standard for all clients which are the highest legal standard in the industry. I provide individual portfolio design for institutions and individuals as opposed to “cookie cutter” portfolios that are often sold to clients because of how they answered a ten-question, risk profiling worksheet. I help clients meet their financial goals by diligently working to minimize taxes, increase net worth over time, and provide a secure retirement. I also lead the firm’s efforts in Asset Valuation by working closely with attorneys and accountants to provide the proper valuation for the division of sophisticated assets such as Warrants, Stock Options, and most commonly, Annuities. I am also one of the few investment advisors in Houston that focuses on the specialized compliance requirements for the upper echelons of professional consulting and love working with leaders at firms such as Accenture, KPMG, and Ernst & Young.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I prize my ability to truly listen to my clients and effectively communicate with them on a regular basis. It is the foundation on which I have built my career.
