Today we’d like to introduce you to Eloisa Eaton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started out in the mid-’90s to mid-2000s as one of Houston’s first female piercers. Ever since I was a child looking through National Geographic magazines, I was intrigued with body modifications and adornments throughout the world, and PMU(permanent makeup) is no different. I moved to Seattle, WA, for ten years, but found my way back home to Houston. I was working paycheck to paycheck, and I found myself in a rut. I knew I needed to start a new chapter in my life, and little did I know, it was all about to change. I had an acquaintance who was getting into microblading and talked to me about it. She knew about my history as a body piercer and thought I’d be interested in this type of body modification, and I was. I mulled it over for some time, not knowing if I should take the jump or not, and then something happened that made me realize this is what I wanted to do with my life.
My childhood friend Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it absolutely broke my heart. One day she wrote about how the chemo treatments made all of her hair, lashes, and eyebrows fall out, and that’s when it hit me, and I made my final decision. I got ahold of Amy and talked to her about my plan. I told her when she kicked cancer’s ass, and after a year without chemo treatments plus, a clean bill of health, she was getting eyebrows and would never have to worry about them ever again.
I did my research on the right microblading school, and six months later with literal blood, sweat, and tears, I got certified by Phi Academy. From there and one bad business deal later, I didn’t have a space to call home, and an old friend of mine Dam Martin owner of Scorpion studios gave me a spot at his shop, and there you have it @eloisa_brows was created!
Has it been a smooth road?
Was it a smooth road…
Smooth road? Hahaha! Definitely not and the struggle is real but completely worth it! From money issues, bad business deals and getting the clients in the door. The saying goes, if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it. You have to fight for what you want and never give up on your dreams!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with @eloisa_brows – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Microblading is what I mainly do. What is microblading, you ask? Microblading is a semipermanent technique that enhances the appearance of eyebrows. I use a hand tool with a blade of tiny needles in which I place pure pigment into the skin in fine, short strokes resembling hair. Besides eyebrows, I also do faux freckles, beauty marks and lash lifts and tints on clients. I’m taking my time to perfect and build my services. Soon I’ll be able to do permanent eyeliner and lip blushing, but my dream is to be able to do 3-D areolas on breast cancer survivors. Once again, I have my friend Amy in the back of my head, and if I can help someone put a smile on their face after fighting and winning such a battle with Cancer, then I’m the richest person in the world. I love helping people! Seeing my clients smile after a session is over is one of the most amazing and rewarding feelings I’ve ever experienced. It’s a natural high for me that keeps me going all day.
What sets me apart from others…
I can always say it’s my eye for detail but in this business, if you’re a PMU artist detail is number one, so I’m gonna go with integrity that sets me apart from others. I’m honest. If I have a client come in and for some reason, I’m not able to work on them, I’m not going to do it and just take their money. I’ll do my best to help them find the right person in the industry that’ll give them what they are looking for. Trust me, I see it a lot in this line of work. There are people out there that take a 2-day course in microblading, and then the very next day they are taking people’s money and “carving” on their faces, and it’s terrifying. The one thing I can say is PLEASE do your research before you let anyone touch your face. It’s so important!
Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so –who are they and what role did they plan / how did they help.
My support and cheerleaders!
I’ve had two women that have stood by me and cheered me along the way. They have high-fived me on my good days and wiped my tears away on my bad days. There is no way that I can ever repay them for their love and support. They have been true friends, and the sisterhood runs deep with these two. First and foremost, Stacy Allbritton Davis. If it wasn’t for her, @eloisa_brows would’ve never happened. I told her about Amy, and my plans on becoming a PMU artist, and this woman gave me the financial support and told me to go get my dream. I still tear up to this day thinking about it. We are each others Thelma and Louise for sure! Then there’s my roommate Amanda Rose Burk. This poor girl has dealt with me since day one from making messes everywhere because I have all my practice work displayed out on the kitchen table to throwing fits after 2 to 3 hours of daily practice because I can’t get the right angle on a hair stroke. Hahaha! She helps me with social media when I don’t understand what heck I’m doing and teaching me along the way. I’m glad to have her in my tribe!
