Today we’d like to introduce you to Elvis Nguyen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Elvis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Houston, coming from a small town called Port Arthur, TX. I knew I didn’t want to live in a small town all my life, so I got out of there as soon as I could at the age of 20. I quickly met a lot of fresh faces in the city and was a regular on the weekends at all the hottest nightlife destinations in the city. This is where I got my opportunity to become a club promoter. I worked under a mentor for a couple of years, learning the in’s and out’s of the industry. I then formed my nightlife promotion company’s name “Ham Choi Productions” and built my own team of promoters. The term “ham choi” means party animal in Vietnamese. This saying, along with my name, has branded me as a local influencer nowadays. Now, 13 years later, I have ascended to the top of the promotion game and have been constantly booking and selling out venues on a weekly basis. The nightlife industry has lead me to other opportunities as well, such as designing and owning my own clothing brand called “Ham Choi Apparel.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was not smooth at all in the beginning. I just moved from a small city and nobody knew who I was. I didn’t book my first VIP table until six months into the gig. I almost wanted to quit!

What were you like growing up?
I am a natural born entertainer. I loved talking and getting to know people from all walks of life.
