Thanks for sharing your story with us Emma. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
My journey and story started way long before I ever started doing lashes. I’ve always had a keen eye for details when it comes to beauty. I have always been detailed oriented when it comes to something I truly have a passion for. Perhaps a little too OCD! 🤓 Growing up, I’ve always been fascinated with anything beauty related especially eyelashes.
I grew up surrounded by the beauty salon business & other small businesses my parents started when we came to the United States from Vietnam.
I’ve always had that entrepreneurial spirit and blood in me ever since I was a young girl. I remember making jewelry of different kinds-and selling it to my friends because they loved the bracelets and necklaces I made. Along with different arts/crafts, pillows, blankets, scrapbooking, etc. I’ve just always LOVED creating things with my hands. Perhaps that’s why art was my favorite subject in school next to science!
I started doing lashes in 2014, and that was when Envy Lash Tomball was born- and man oh man has it been such a journey through the years! But I wouldn’t change it for the world. Fast forward to 2019- I have expanded, and it’s not just me anymore. I am the master lash artist at my lash studio along with my lash girl Betty who’s been with me for three+years- and we are still growing!
I strive always on a daily basis to be able to provide our clients with beautiful sets of properly applied eyelash extensions. Keeping my client’s eyes and natural lashes healthy is #1 top priority to me and anyone else who is working for me. Continuing education is so vital and imperative to me- in order to always be providing our clients with the latest updates and techniques. I am truly a lash nerd at heart and can go on and on all day about everything eyelashes, but I will stop here- for now 🙂.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing great should ever come easy right? The road has not been an easy ride at all whatsoever- but I can tell you it’s definitely been worth it! Especially if it’s truly your passion as your truth. I believe wholeheartedly with anything in life, either you do it with a passion or don’t do it at all. Because at the end of the day, you have to be happy at what you are doing with your life and no one else’s opinions should matter over yours.
Over the years, there has been quite a few obstacles and challenges when it comes to working for yourself and running my business. As a business owner, your business is your literal child- so you are never truly ‘’off’’. Many times, your family and friends only see the positives and the success that’s on the surface. Below the surface there was and still, are- plenty of hard work, calculated risks & actions, lates nights, sweats, blood, tears, struggles, failures, tons of discipline, tons of doubts, sacrifices, adversity, rejections, and criticism from others. But all this made me into the person I am today.
For me personally, in the beginning, I had a lot of negative critics and naysayers when I started doing lashes. People thought I’d lost my mind and that I was crazy and would never be sustainable at doing what I love. What made it more difficult- as some of those people were my mother and father. Being in the beauty industry of any kind, in general, is difficult. You must have thick skin and a love for what you are doing to truly build a strong foundation.
Although I wasn’t blessed with a great support system, what I did have was my strong faith as a Christian. I’ve learned over the years that the best way to do business correctly, is to run your business like a marathon and not a sprint. And doing business Gods way is the best way.

And because of that, we take continuing education on a constant basis to always be up to date on the latest trends and techniques, so we are able to provide only the best lash services to our clients. To this date- I am a lash artist who holds seven different certifications and counting.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
What I love most about Houston our city is that it is truly a blank slate for anyone to do whatever it is your heart desire. Whether it is doing lashes, hair, nails, etc. There will always be plenty of clients for everybody.
Being in business, I see people tend to compete with competitions towards other similar businesses. I truly believe in collaboration over competition. There is room for everyone if you pay your dues and put in your hard work. True success doesn’t happen overnight.
I’ve learned over the years that not every single client is for you, AND guess what? That’s ok! You will never be the right person for the wrong person whether it’s professionally or personally.
Spend your time on attracting your ideal client by perfecting your craft and artistry. Your vibe attracts your tribe! And the right clients WILL find you.
No one is you, and that is your power. Let that last sentence truly sink in. It will change your whole perspective on everything.
