Meet Gabrielle Howard of Just Like Mee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Howard.

Gabrielle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Just Like Mee was just a thought for almost 2/3 years ago but officially became a business February of 2019. I wanted to create a brand where I can share my interests in fashion, lifestyle and beauty for both mothers and fathers. Whether they were single parents or with their partners. When I had my daughter now four years ago, there wasn’t that many cute and relatable mommy and me blogs and brands that were out there so I decided why not take the leap of faith and be that brand that can bring what I believe is needed into parenthood. Also recognizing the strength and patience it takes to raise children. With wanting to inspire and influence, I partnered up with Ashleigh Martin owner of Calisas Closet who is also a single mother. We created “The Hustle Experience” pop up shop to help network and bring other businesses together.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
To be honest, it has not been a smooth journey, when having a mommy and me brand you tend to get lost sometimes because you think “well what I have to offer is so cute why won’t they buy”. But having to realize as a parent you are on a budget so most will not buy because it’s just cute but does it make sense to my lifestyle and my appearance as a parent daily. I had to take a break because it became overwhelming mentally and I felt cluttered trying to be consistent and bring content that all will enjoy and love and invest in my vision. Starting back up this February 2020 after a well needed mental break.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Just Like Mee story. Tell us more about the business.
Just Like Mee was created to inspire and influence all who are just like me as a parent, a women, and a friend. Through fashion, lifestyle and beauty. We specialize in T-shirts and accessories, with more to come. We are known for our “Wyd? Being a mother Building a Brand” tshirts. I am most proud of how far this brand has come from being just at bought and to officially bringing my vision to life. What sets me apart from the other brands is how real and relatable we are. I don’t want to just be someone that sells to my followings but someone who can be their friend, sister. Someone they can vent to share stores and motivate each other. Parenthood is not easy so we must all stick together!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Leading by faith and not by sight, it’s not luck that has brought me far in my business and life it’s the relationship I have with God and believing that everything I’m doing is for a reason.
