Meet Hannah Goetz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Goetz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in Houston, I was very accustomed to going back and forth between both parents’ houses, while planning ahead for my busy days at school, my schoolwork, extracurricular activities, etc. Because of this, I learned at a very young age to keep a close track of my belongings and to be extremely organized. Little did I know that growing up this way would lead to a lifelong habit, talent and passion of mine.

I first enrolled at the University of Georgia for my first two years of college and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin to finish my bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. I was very interested in PR, but I could never really pinpoint what I was passionate about or what I wanted to do with my life. One time when I was home for winter break, I decided to completely declutter my childhood room, getting rid of, donating and rearranging 18 years worth of stuff. Since then, I have helped my mother and other family members and friends organize their spaces for fun. This not only made me feel complete, but it also made me feel good by helping others in a different way. I realized that when I am organizing, I am truly in my element, which had been hard to find. I also have had an interest in design and creating functional, design-worthy spaces, so it was only natural that I started to then research how to become a Professional Organizer.

After graduating from UT Austin, I fortunately landed a full-time job at an Austin-based company and have been there for the past five years. I have experienced and watched it grow from a start-up to a nation-wide company while wearing a few different hats along the way as Marketing Manager to Operations Manager. I have learned so much and have loved every minute of it, but I finally decided to start doing my passion and start organizing on the side.

Even though closets are my specialty, I have helped organize offices, kitchens, pantries, bathrooms, other storage solutions and more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Balancing my life between my relationships, a full-time job, starting an organizing business on the side, and taking care of my own wellbeing has been the biggest challenge for me. I have already made multiple mistakes, but I truly believe these will only make me stronger and are the building blocks to learn and grow. Everyone always tells you that, but you don’t really understand until you experience them yourself. I think the biggest challenge is always remembering that everyone makes mistakes. Putting myself out there has also been a huge challenge of mine – it can be very scary at times!

Hannah Goetz Organizing – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Most of us do not realize that being unorganized in our home and/or office can really dictate our time and ultimately stress – making us late for work, for meeting friends, spending quality time with family, etc.

Hannah Goetz Organizing is your personal organizer, helping you achieve your long-term organizational goals and giving you peace of mind.

Being organized is not staying nice and tidy 100% of the time – this is impossible as we are human! Hannah Goetz Organizing believes that a well-organized living or workspace can save you time, offer you clarity, more storage options, protection for your belongings and reduce your day-to-day stress. Most importantly, allow you to get back to what matters in your life! HGO can create a custom package tailored just for you. HGO serves Houston and Austin areas.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment so far is taking the leap into starting my organizing business on the side, while growing within my other full-time career!
