Today we’d like to introduce you to Hattie Noworatzky.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started on a craft day with friends! My dear teacher friends of about ten years got together to make teardrop style earrings for fun. Shout out to Sara Holmes for teaching us! Everyone I wore them around loved them. I decided to make a sell them with a friend that owns an online boutique – Sara Taylor of Landstaylor designs. She was a great mentor and taught me a lot about online business.
The earrings sold really well, and I found myself wanting to explore other types of jewelry making. I couldn’t sleep at night thinking about all the possibilities! I googled jewelry making classes and found one in Friendswood. I took a class on tassel earrings and it took four hours to make two pairs! I thought I’d never be able to do this as a business because it was too time-consuming. After researching and shopping around, I found ways to make jewelry faster and more affordable. I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do with all this. Was it for fun? Would it be a business? My girlfriends pushed me to make it a business because they wanted to buy all my things! Another friend Cammeo, who is an awesome fashion blogger (Cammeo HEAD TO TOE), posted pictures of my jewelry and people reached out to her to buy things. This was before I had anything set up online! It was crunch time so another friend, Michelle, set up my Facebook group and Instagram page (I need all the help with technology. If you can’t tell, I only operate in a tribe. I couldn’t do it with all these talented women.
From there, I’ve sold to awesome boutiques like “Brave” in Seabrook and League City and Belle Lees in Kemah and grown my Facebook and Instagram pages. My mom Dottie and sister Corrie (along with some other very sweet friends) have spent hours helping me make jewelry to be ready for shows. I have hired some other talented women to help me keep up with the long list of orders!
