Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Holloway.
Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Both of my parents are incredibly artistic. They encouraged me to be creative in any way possible. I grew up at the end of a dirt road in a modest home nestled in the thick piney forest, I spent most of my time in the tree tops taking in the view and befriending the wildlife. My friends and family jokingly call me a “Disney Princess,” but when you have hummingbirds eating out of the palm of your hand, it’s safe to say it fits. As a child my dream job was to be a photographer for National Geographic. I have enjoyed photographing nature as far back as I can remember!
I started my business in 2014 as an on location portrait photographer, shooting at local parks around Northwest Houston. I learned over the next couple of years that my heart just wasn’t into family portraits. As much as I enjoyed meeting new clients and making a little extra money, I realized I needed to follow my heart and focus solely on my nature photography. So here I am today, newly transitioned into a fine art nature photographer with hopes of my work being put out there for all to see.
Life is meant to be enjoyed, and with the fast paced, chaotic world we live in these days, I hope my work can remind people to stop and take a moment to see the beauty all around us – even in the seemingly ordinary, everyday things, that most of us rarely give a second look.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My road has definitely had some bumps in it, and is still in the process of being paved. I find my business sense doesn’t always match my creative sense. I just have faith that life has a way of working itself out when the time is right. With equal parts hard work, and patience, I’ll get my business where I want it to be. I’m still finding my path along the road, and I may eventually decide to offer portrait photography once again. I would like to focus on individual shots rather than group pictures as I do enjoy one on one sessions. It’s a much more intimate and personal experience compared to a group photo. I am excited to see where my photography takes me, and in the meantime I will continue to capture the beauty that surrounds us all!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Heather Holloway Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in nature photography. I am known for stunning flower pictures and colorful creature shots. I offer timeless high quality images you can enlarge and hang on your wall with many options including canvas, framed, and metal, along with many other options. You can order custom keepsakes and gifts using my pictures as a template. My images are vibrant and would make any wall come to life!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m a firm believer that we create our own reality; be it good, bad, or otherwise. If we go around complaining and being negative all the time, then negative things will happen to us. Conversely, if we stay positive and focus on the good things in life and nature, then we will see a positive outcome come our way. I try to keep life simple, yet full of the things that everyone can enjoy. I believe my photography mirrors that philosophy.
