Meet Hilary Tobe Mokolo of Amity Park Media in SouthWest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hilary Tobe Mokolo.

Hilary Tobe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been an artist in some form from as early as I can remember a kid born in Lagos, Nigeria. I began writing and sketching stories of some of my favorite superheroes. Moving to the States was a tough adjustment, especially at an early age. We did not have much in the form of entertainment, which prompted me always to use my environment. I built robots out of cereal boxes and even made figurines out of ULINE twist ties. In High school, I met my first mentor, my elderly neighbor, who had taught himself to paint years ago. During my summers, I would paint landscapes and portraits. Unfortunately, I left my art and storytelling during my undergrad years. Having gone through a lot of trials during those years, I later found my way back in Grad school. I picked up a camera and found a new brush to paint with. I, since then, became obsessed with capturing emotions through a lens. I started out freelancing shooting different for friends, brands, companies, etc. Now I am happy to be a co-founder of my own media company, Amity Park Media.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has and continues to be a mix of obstacles, wins, challenges, and success. The success is in the journey through those obstacles which we have come to understand is something sacred. It is unique to each individual and their growth. So, therefore, we encourage the challenges knowing that they lead us down our path.

Amity Park Media – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
2019 marked the beginning of Amity Park Media before then I had been freelancing. The vision grew, so then my life partner, and now business partner, and I decided to build it into a business. We are a full media house servicing photography, cinematography, video, and design. For us, it is more than taking a photo, shooting a video, or creating a design. We believe in storytelling, articulating stories visually to portray a vision. Our mission is to help our clients engage with their audience uniquely. We work with clients planning, developing, and analyzing visual content. We pride our selves on customer experience and satisfaction. It is more than producing an end product; it is the process of getting there. We make sure our client is well involved in each step of the process, and they enjoy each step of the journey. The objective is to ensure the client receives a product at the end of the day they are personally attached to because it would then even more so touch their audience.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as goals set and accomplished. Each challenge we overcome, there is a level of success achieved. Success is not one grandeur accomplishment. It is a series of time and time again beating obstacles, challenging yourself, holding on to what you believe, and pressing on through the journey until you reach your destination. However, we do have set milestones that, once reached, pull us closer to our overall mission. Success is something that grows from patience and hard work. It is found in the relentless belief in self!
