Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaquel Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hair has always been my passion and a way for me to express myself. I was 19 years old fresh into beauty school when I first thought of the name Cosmochiq. Much like today, I had many passions and wanted a name that embodied them all. During that time, I was in school full time, working full time, and needed to practice my craft. So I became a traveling stylist bringing the salon to my clients. It gave me a chance to not only build the clientele but also to practice. I noticed over time my clients, friends and family always wanted my opinion of different types of hair extensions. So I decided to provide the hair for my clients. And from there, the world.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I own Cosmochiq.com, where beauty glamour and confidence live. We sell luxury hair and lash extensions. I’m proud of how far we made it. It has been a very long road but I’m grateful for the progress. What sets us apart is we continue to evolve, We do our research and we love our customers.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I’m very shy and cosmochiq takes me out my element on the daily. What I’ve learned is to just simply ask. If you see someone you admire and think they’ll make a great mentor, just ask. The worst they can say is no. You may get a few no’s but you only need one yes. And with networking that’s the fun part. Just change your perspective. Don’t think of it as networking but building a relationship or starting a new friendship. That in itself takes a lot of the pressure off.
