Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Hernandez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In high school, I took a photography class for fun. I ended up purchasing an old film camera off e-Bay and took photos of my friends wherever we went. I fell in love with the process of capturing memories and never put the camera down. During college, I found a job shooting video for a wedding company. They took me under their wing and taught me the ins and outs of the wedding industry. In 2017, I started my own wedding photography business and I’ve been capturing couples in love ever since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In some ways, it has. I was fortunate to find that videography position at that wedding company. I didn’t have any professional experience prior but they taught me enough to make me confident enough to start my own business.
In other ways, it hasn’t. Starting a business with no degree or experience was challenging at first. I was a photographer trying to run a business. But I learned a lot over the years and thanks to my mentors and YouTube, of course, I was able to turn my passion into a full-time job.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jared Hernandez Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a wedding photographer. I tell stories of couples in love. I think the thing I’m most proud of with my company are the friendships I’ve made along the way with my couples. I spend time developing real relationships with them, getting to know them, and walking alongside them during engagement. I think when that is done right, it results in meaningful & more detailed photos.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m getting married to the love of my life Morgan as soon as the Corona Virus allows us. We were set to get married on April 11th but we’re having to postpone it until the summer.
As far as my business goes, I plan to reach couples beyond Houston. I’ve shot a few out of state weddings & want to spend the future capturing weddings all over the world.
