Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmin Rahman.
Jasmin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always loved creating beauty. I stumbled upon makeup artistry as a profession accidentally over ten years ago when I was interviewing for a part-time job at Macy’s while in college. Once I realized the potential this business could have, I launched on my own! Back then, social media had not boomed into what it is today so I networked old school through cold calls, e-mails and physical networking!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a woman of color, I tend to be the only individual in the room that looks like me on set. This isn’t always a challenge but sometimes I am not taken seriously. In other ways, this has been helpful!

I specialize in Editorial, Fashion and Bridal makeup. I enjoy stretching my creative muscles with Editorial and Fashion and bringing the team’s vision to life. I enjoy working with Brides as I get to form a more personal connection with my brides as I am the first person they are with prior to walking down the aisle. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist so my background in therapy helps me connect with my clients.
What were you like growing up?
I was creative through dance growing up. I had a single mom who did her best to expose me to the arts within means. Through dance, I began working on my cohorts and traditional Bangladeshi makeup is very bold!
