Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started braiding hair when I lived in Louisiana I use to do my cousin’s hair. After a few months I moved back to Houston and was going to school for business and just doing hair every once in a while I worked retail at a clothing store for a few months and decided it wasn’t for me. I started braiding full time and loved doing hair so much more and enjoyed it , to me it never feels like work to me I enjoy doing hair just that much. Then I would like to continue to the next sentence and say “I’m still an upcoming stylist in the Houston area always looking for more to learn about the hair industry. I THANK GOD FOR MY TALENT!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t all. Sometimes I’m booked like crazy and sometimes there is tumbleweeds where there is no bookings. Being short on supplies, The challenges has been advertising I am learning how to advertise better. Omg! I feel I just suck at advertising my business at times.

I am braider, I specialize in any braid styles at the moment, My medium waist length & thigh length box braids are my clients most favorite, I’m most known for growing my client’s hair and have them with their edges still in place during and after braids. The main thing that sets me apart from others my only competition is being a better stylist than I was when I first started.
What were you like growing up?
I was very goofy and still is, one year, I was bullied in middle school about my hair by this group of boys on the last day of school omg! I cried so much that last day of school. That summer before high school, all I did was try new hairstyles I was determined not to be feeling that way again like I did that day and I would never want anyone else to feel that way. I was more happy and had more confidence in myself just by doing something so small was a big thing in my mind.
