Meet Jasmine Jackson of Transcribe You in South Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Jackson.

Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is one that will hopefully show the process and steps taken to go from hurting to healing. My plight is to help other women overcome the silent shame of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

In January 2016, I self-published my first book, Past Recovered. An accomplishment I will forever be proud of. A few days after this great high, I found myself kicked out of the Corporate America club and depending on that very same book to pay the bills. After coming back from medical leave due tosuffering from severe migraines, I found myself walking down a cold hallway holding a box with my belongings. After being let go from my job, I found myself in six-figure student loan debt and pleading to get a call back for a job opportunity. My real estate license kept me afloat for a few months, but the commission checks weren’t catching up with the bills. With my self-published book in tow, I sold copies out of my trunk, at liquor stores, Wal Marts, and night clubs.

Not fully understanding the magnitude of what I was experiencing, I went into survival mode and just shrugged if off as just having a few bad days but those bad days became a bad week which morphedinto a bad month and bad months landed me two years later fighting for my life.

I lost interest in my true passion, writing, and acting,I found myself existing, not living.

“Yes, I’m an entrepreneur, no I’m not lazy but those were tough and trying times that would challenge anyone’s faith. There were days, I felt like I couldn’t move, my mind was racing and my body was stuck. I was so focused on being strong that I was dying inside. I was fueling everyone else around me while I was on EMPTY.” I didn’t want others around me to think I couldn’t “handle” it. I had to learn that IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK!

I was depressed, having panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, unmotivated, suffering and unfocused! It all came to a head with me almost losing my life and getting to my lowest point to realize I needed help.

At 32 years old, I found myself and learned the true definition of self-love. After taking time to reflect, heal and release emotional baggage, I was able to get to the true root of the problem.

I reclaimed my self-worth after years of neglect, changed my thoughts, changed my realty and turned my trials into triumphs.

Now healed but not perfect, I found herself back on the laptop doing what I love – writing and creating.

This journey was a catalyst for creating a Mental Health Wellness app titled, “Transcribe You,” to help others gain awareness of the signs, seek professional help and break the shame of mental illness. Also, through this journey it allowed me to “walk it, how I talk it”, penning my second self-published book, “Fueling on Empty, No MORE,”which details the steps to finding your peace and transition from surviving to thriving. I’m really proud of the app which is now available in the App store as well as Google play and the book which will be available late summer 2019.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
After losing my corporate America salary job, having $150k in student loan debt, a master’s degree and still unable to find a job, life got dark. Trying to stay focused while battling mental health has been a rocky road and that’s why I emphasized that it is a process that must be walked out daily. I found myself laying in the bed fighting to get up and out the house, but depression overpowered me. I had to heal so I could live you can too.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Transcribe You story. Tell us more about the business.

Luck had no role in my business. Faith and Prayer is what kept and keeps my business and myself going.
