Meet Jasmine Jade of The Passion Fruit Show in Southwest Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Jade.

Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Jasmine Jade. I am born and raised here in Houston, Texas, Originally from the North Side of Houston, Homestead. Majority of my life, I was raised in a single-parent home, my mother doing what she could to take care of my two sisters as well as me. Seeing that struggle required me to push myself above all expectations and break the generational curses afflicting my family and demand a new start. A life with purpose.

I started to model right after high school 2015 being my graduation year but I never took it seriously up until 2018. I started to teach myself to walk the runway through YouTube and actually became quite bomb at it! I ripped the runway in a significant amount of shows and even traveled to some great cities for shows. My passion is always Fashion even so that my major was in Fashion Design. I expect to have my own clothing line by 2021. One particular fashion show I met a gentleman by the name of “Heaven Mozart,” a talented DJ from England he asked me to come onto “Afrovibes Radio” for me to be interviewed. Of course, I accepted. The CEO of Afrovibes Radio “Phillip Balonwu” took interest into my radio presence, which jumps started my radio career.

From The runway to the radio set. I’d never thought I would be on radio. I started out on “The tea club,” an amazing show by heaven Mozart but I always had my own vision. So I ventured off and came up with “The Passionfruitshow.” The name has a deeper meaning that I wanted to take from the Bible. The Bible says to have Fruitfulness and the word means “A State of being extremely Productive or Prolific.”I believe Everyone should always walk in fruitfulness. And passion, I am a very passionate person. So “The Passionfruitshow” definitely was a name given by God.

My show focuses on Creators and their passions. It is a platform to Broadcast all talent and passions whether you sing, Dance, are an Artist, lawyers, Poets, the list goes on. I take passion very seriously and love to see other people showing theirs. That is why “The Passionfruitshow” was created.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to building The Passionfruitshow has been steady up until the coronavirus pandemic erupted. All interviews, media events, etc. had to be pushed back and were still not fully open for business yet. So it has been hard adjusting but we are strong we are going to get through this together!

I know I have to do an exceptional job all the time, Always. I’m a perfectionist, which I feel leaves opportunity for growth.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
What I love about Houston the most is that we Rep our city the hardest. No matter where you go, you hear a Houstonian screaming, “HTOWWWNNN.” It’s the pride we have to even be from Houston that I don’t see anywhere else. Come on now, we all can agree we least like the traffic and the weather in Houston lol. We all can agree on that.
