Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Campbell and Jeremy Knight.
UPTIME Films was started by three people coming together with a common goal: to tell stories.
Jason and his wife Jacqueline began working in the film industry because of healthcare. Their families had worked on the operational side of the healthcare industry for over 40+ years, The two of them spent a lot of time in facilities around the country. They grew attracted to the idea of telling the stories of the patients, caregivers, and administrators at these facilities, and soon began using film to capture these stories.
For Jeremy, it all started with film. From a young age, one of the best investments Jeremy’s parents ever made in his future was an unlimited, 3-movies-per-trip monthly rental pass to Hollywood Video. This passion for film is the reason Jeremy picked up a camera and began telling his own stories. He eventually began professional work as a cinematographer and editor, shooting & editing everything from narrative film to promotional branded content and weddings.
The vision of UPTIME came about when Jeremy & Jason reunited for the first time in over 5 years (they both had been long-time friends since elementary school and played football together at Clear Brook High School). The two discussed their passion for storytelling, and their desire to create an all-inclusive company that could service any type of industry, which is when they realized that they both had the same goal in mind. They discussed each others vision, thus; UPTIME Films was created.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To say it has been a “smooth road” wouldn’t be far from the truth. When our team came together, the vision had been very clear from the start: To tell the stories of our clients through the form of video.
With our past both educating us, we were able to hit the ground running – with minimal hiccups in between.
If we had to identify one thing as the hardest obstacle: it would be whether or not we wanted to step into the “wedding photography” industry or focus on our videography platform. As they are both, from a technical standpoint very similar – we ultimately decided it was better for us – and our company to focus on our video platform. This has turned out to be one of our better decisions, and why we have been acknowledged as one of the industry-leading videography companies in Houston.
