Meet Jason Murff of Grill Your Ass Off in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Murff.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jason. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got the idea to start my seasoning business, Grill Your Ass Off, while I was serving in the Army as an 11B (Infantryman) in Fort Myer, VA. Being the only Soldier from Texas, everyone relied on me for quality BBQ. With virtually no good seasoning choices in the stores around the base, I was mixing spices to come up with a Texas style flavor. After getting out of the military, while attending college, I decided to take my favorite flavor profiles and create my own product that would appeal to the Veteran and patriotic community alike. All of our bottles are made and packed in Texas with a theme that will be sure to give each recipient a good laugh and often times bring back memories, in just 11 months in business, we’re featured in over 50 stores and with the ease of ordering online, and I am able to ship to Patriots all across the company.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel that starting and running a business has its struggles, and ours has not been any different in that aspect. On the day of our first demo, the batch of bottles we received were the wrong size and the labels were printed incorrectly. However, we were able to overcome the issue by thinking quickly and making some last minute calls and changes and were able to sell out of product we had on hand. In the beginning, our website had continuous technical difficulties as we did not have a background in ecommerce. Many of our successes have been earned through trial and error and we feel it has been a truly humbling experience.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Grill Your Ass Off – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Here at Grill Your Ass Off, we specialize in making the best seasoning for our Veteran and Patriotic community. We want to bring American loving people together with humor, community, and food. Some of the things that set us apart from other seasoning companies would have to be the size of our bottles, bold taste and the military themed names of each seasoning, We’re also 100% Veteran owned and operated.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the way our city comes together in times of need to support one another. Also, the love and support towards our military and veteran community is more than any other city I have seen. Texas is the greatest country in the world and we’re proud to call it our home.
