Meet Jason Nichols of Vetsweb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Nichols.

Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Website Design has been a hobby of mine since I was 15 years old. I tinkered with Dreamweaver and other graphic design software during high school and just loved it.

Fast forward 15 years and I was fresh out of the Air Force, finishing a degree in Accounting & Finance when I realized that perhaps I could turn a hobby into a career. From that point, my small business known as Dallas Website Design was up and running! I rebranded to Vetsweb in 2015 after moving to Katy, Texas.

In 2015, the business nearly doubled the amount of clients by adding new businesses from the Houston area to an already growing DFW client base. Currently, we have over 100 clients from all over the US and are generally working on around 20-30 active projects each month.

Has it been a smooth road?
The cost of entry into the digital marketing industry is extremely low. Often times it’s difficult to sign new clients that are looking to save money or perhaps they’ve been burned by another company. Unfortunately, when all someone needs is a computer and a Freelancer.com account, they can make themselves appear to be an expert.

Unsuspecting businesses and start-ups run into this all the time and turn to a reputable company after they’ve already exhausted most, if not all, of their marketing budget. It happens way more than you’d think and all it does is drive already competitive pricing down even further and the quality of work you receive in return is sub par. Luckily, we’ve taken cost reduction measures to a new level and have allowed our company to offer serious value at a competitive price.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Vetsweb story. Tell us more about the business.
Vetsweb is a Digital Marketing Agency that specializes in Website Design, Search Engine Optimization, Web Hosting, Social Media Marketing, and Reputation Management for small to medium-sized businesses.

We are proud to have seen growth and increased our customer base every year since we launched in 2012. We keep close relationships with our clients by providing them with a personalized service. Each business is different and so are their websites – we’ve learned that there is no “cookie cutter” way to approach digital marketing.

In fact, we have a lot of customers that were previously using Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify – which are about as close to “cookie cutter” as it gets… not to mention they had to do most of the work themselves.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We’ve already seen the impact of Mobile Optimization and Social Media settle down a bit in our industry. Almost every new website will need to prioritize those as 1a and 1b when developing their digital marketing plan. I feel like we are just a tick behind technology.

When a new size screen is introduced like the smartwatches, or a new high traffic platform has been developed, digital marketers need to be ready to adjust their course and follow these trends. Consumers ultimately drive our market which forces us to become very reactionary.
