Meet Jeanette Pearson of Partners In Paleo in League City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanette Pearson.

Jeanette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey to the Paleo lifestyle began in 2011. I changed how I was eating to gain control over my weight and many digestive issues. Through a bit of research and connections within the Triathlon and CrossFit communities, I found Paleo.

At the time, I was traveling as a sales rep. I was very tired of the road and was looking for another way to make a living. After starting CrossFit in the fall of 2011, during a class on food and lifestyle choices, a young lady in the class stated that she would love to eat this way but could not cook nor did she think she had the time. I decided then to see if I could find a way to make this work for me. I knew how to cook and I could have the time if I didn’t travel. My adventures with Partners In Paleo began. First, I was just cooking for people at the gym. But, cooking out of my kitchen was not going to work for long so I found a place to lease and proceeded to open a small cafe in September of 2012. It has been and continues to be a struggle. I am supported by a small community of folks that believe in the Paleo lifestyle and who also need to have a gluten free, dairy free food option.

Has it been a smooth road?
The struggles in opening a restaurant are many. There is never enough money or time. Advertising and marketing continue to be a daily challenge. We utilize as many social media outlets as possible and a strong word of mouth process. But it is often not enough. Many people are just “finding” us after 5 years of doing business. Location, location, location!!!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Partners In Paleo story. Tell us more about the business.
Our restaurant and food business is based on the Paleo lifestyle; no grains, no dairy, no legumes, no processed sugar, no soy. We are the only fully Paleo restaurant in our area. This alone sets us apart from many others in our area.

We take pride in offering clean food options for those that are changing their dietary habits and for those that are looking for gluten free options. We work closely with local vendors to put their produce and meat products on the menu as often as we can.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The shift to less processed food is growing. There are always trends in diets; low carb, high fat, ketogenic, paleo, primal, AIP, the list goes on and on.

We feel that the clean, local, fresh concept of food prep is going to grow as more and more people find that their health and the environment can be greatly improved by moving back to a simpler dietary concept.
