Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gaudet Trosclair.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After 18 years in sports medicine physical therapy and athletic performance, I realized that I was passionate about not only injury prevention but also disease prevention and overall quality of life. Our physical bodies are impacted by so much more than just our diet and exercise, but by stress and other environmental factors. The inner game is truly important in order to attain health and balance in life. If we are lacking in one area of life, it shows up elsewhere, affecting our weight, our health, our happiness, our career, our relationships. I wanted to learn more about a holistic approach to empower others to impact ALL areas of their lives, not just their athletic performance or physical health.
I came to realize that our “Healthcare” is actually “Sick care” and that true health care is the food we eat, our relationships, how we move our body, and all those little things we do for self-care and fulfillment to bring our best foot forward in the world. I also discovered that although I am one person, I can have an impact on healthcare, and have made it my mission to improve access to both healthcare and wellness care to all, regardless of location or ability to pay, to improve the health and wellness of everyone in our community, our country, and our world. Through collaboration, we can impact the world, we can improve quality of life for everyone.
After multiple certification programs, nutritional education, conferences, and continuing education, I have launched my coaching practice. Initially, I worked completely remotely with people around the country and internationally. However, I was left a bit unfulfilled. I wanted to help MY community, to serve the community in which I have lived and worked for the last ten years. Then, Harvey hit. I ceased all business activities and dedicated my time to helping my family, friends, neighbors, and others in the community at large to muck their houses. Many hugs, tears, bumps and sore muscles later, I realized that my calling is to impact our community first.
Only then will I have fulfilled my need for community interaction in order to impact our state, our country, and our world on a larger scale. I am passionate about empowering others to create the lives they desire, the healthy lifestyle and life balance they crave.
Has it been a smooth road?
Transitioning to coaching from the world of healthcare was actually much smoother than I expected. Coaching is a calling. It is a skill required in the physical therapy world, and I am well practiced in coaching others to return to their prior level of function after an injury or surgery.
What has not been smooth is building coaching as a business. Many things surfaced as I have shifted towards coaching and retired from the traditional job. Just as I was gaining momentum locally, we were hit by the devastation of Harvey and its aftermath. People were displaced, out of work, businesses were on hold as they rebuilt, and it has honestly been a struggle returning to “business as usual”.
Establishing yourself in a new career/role is tough, even more so after being so well established and respected in a prior career. Add building a business to that recipe and the road is naturally rocky. I have found that it is easy to get distracted by marketing techniques, but sticking to one method is actually better, even though initially it may not seem the case.
The silver lining has been how rewarding it is to coach others, to have them truly change their lives for the better, to open possibilities they could not see before. Coaching is perhaps one of the most rewarding careers, as I am helping others make a huge impact on their health, their weight, their stress management, their career, their relationships.
Empowering others to step into the best version of themselves is more rewarding to me that the investment in my coaching services. The money and business is just an added bonus. I entered physical therapy because I love helping people regain their mobility afterlife has knocked them for a loop. Now, I am able to help people take control of all aspects of their life, prevent lifestyle diseases that rob us of the quality of life we desire, attain the physical health they desire, maximize their energy, and truly become better versions of themselves. It is as if I’ve upped the ante on the rewarding career meter.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jen Gaudet, Healthy lifestyle coach – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a transformational coach. I help people clarify their goals, discover a vision of the life they would rather be experiencing, overcome any obstacles towards reaching their goals. My coaching programs offer a step by step process to slowly change habits, easing into the desired habits and lifestyle choices.
As a coach, I provide the support needed to empower the changes desired, and the accountability to ensure it happens. My specialty is helping busy professionals and entrepreneurs to improve their health, increase their energy, and improve their productivity without sacrificing their time and those activities they love.
I am most proud of my companies ultimate mission to give back, and the vision to truly change healthcare, transitioning to wellness and prevention.
What sets me apart from others is the ability to truly get to the root cause of stress, emotional eating, and other health-related concerns. By uncovering the root cause, my clients have been able to effect lasting and meaningful change in all areas of their lives.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the international presence in our city. The culmination of different cultures has always been intriguing to me. After Harvey, I realized how amazing this community can be as we link arms and help our neighbors. Although, I could definitely do with less traffic and construction!
