Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Hernandez.
Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
About six years ago, I started working in the automotive industry as a loaner vehicle rep for Mercedes Benz. Over the course of years, I moved up from being a BDC rep for sales and service to be a BDC Manager for West Point Lincoln. I have always enjoyed being around cars, this is one of the reasons why I enjoy working in the auto industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any other business, working in the automotive industry has its ups and downs. Sometimes, we have good months, sometimes we have bad months. We just try our hardest to make some deals and bring in customers. Also, a challenge I face sometimes is combining work with my school schedule. It can be difficult sometimes but I am glad I have a supportive family and friends who want me to achieve my goals. My ultimate goal is to be a sales manager one day.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
We sell Lincoln and pre-owned vehicles. I am the Business Development Manager. I am charged with creating appointments, call potential customers, answer any questions customers may have questions about a particular vehicle is a big accomplishment for me. I love what I do and enjoy working in this industry. “Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.”
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was when I became a manager. Of course, maybe a BDC manager may not be a huge role as other management positions but having the honor to teach others some of my skills and help those who have questions on how to use a particular system or vehicle is a big accomplishment for me.
